which is why I stated that what they typed could be wrong, but I am unable to make a judgement of them being wrong since I do not have the full info on what happened. According to what has been stated they were banned for valid reasons but I leave open the possibility that they were booted out for being on the "wrong" side politically (there is definitely precedent for that happening all over the web, as per my comment above). I would like this board to remain balanced so if the forum becomes one sided I will be saddened that one of the few more balanced places on the net will be lost. for now though I will just wait and see how things go.
i have been banned for my views not in alignment with most of the members in a thread. cant remember the topic but i think it is either who was the stronger immortal in highlander or something related to ironman. i did not break any rules but they gave me a ban using their triumph card called "Trolling".

I myself was banned from AVPGalaxy forum (I think that was the name) for stating that the Thing from the 1982 movie was a micro-organism. I never said anything remotely offensive nor was I argumentative, simply disagreed with a more established member who was buddies with a mod. So I know what that feels like. If that why is why you were banned then that is very concerning. That indicates a "Reddit mod" style of moderation aka ban happy censorship.

nah reddit mods dont need reason to ban you. you can get banned for just participating in another sub that the mods dont like, even though you never heard of those subs.

also ban happy culture did not start from reddit. if you used to frequent forums and revisited them after years of not visiting, you would realize most have been deserted and if you read few threads you realize the mods went on ban happy trigger simply because they didnt like the posts they even indicated about the ban and the remaining members just loled. So when the forum declined these fellas went on to reddit and created their own subs.

I used to lurk/watch here for many years among other forums (finally joined a few to message) and it was sooo busy and intense here. It seems kind of dead now in comparison. Maybe not so "kind of."

The SW sections, where I spend most of my time, seem maybe 30% of what it was years ago. Maybe changes in collecting, maybe social media competition, other eyeball competition. How no one has started a thread titled "wtf happened to Freaks?" I have no idea.

But this thread is funny (similar threads on other forums,) people saying good riddance re banned members who dragged in politics - while posting over and over about... their own politics, just as deluded yet ban-proof.:lol Freaks gonna be Freaks... even when its just a dozen left in the room.

Me eating popcorn and drinking egg nog to see who gets banned reading the last few pages of this thread…

Sheesh…

Oh Merry Christmas Freaks!

criticizing a government is different from criticizing someone's friend or family i do not know about. i am basing my views off how the pandemic was handled and the controversial policies they implemented to force, coarse and pressure people into taking the vaccine irregardless of my views on science human basic rights must be upheld and what they did was no different from what the nazis did in terms of implementing what they believe is good for the people which makes me suspect the old traditions have been inherited in Canada and New Zealand governments. I still remember people saying they couldnt leave canada and return home or even get a place to stay without being vaccinated. Not that i am against vaccines but such medical enforcement is really shameful. I know there are similar policies in some states and countries but they spread their wings around just like they did back in wwii.

god knows if hitlers really ded.

solely my views.
It was a weird time to live in for sure.

Aside from the draconian policies that were enforced, what was most disturbing is how the Prime Minister so casually sowed division amongst the population. Inciting an “us vs. them” mentality from a position of leadership was unbelievably reckless. Anyone who disagreed with the government was suddenly a “misogynist, racist extremist” and he openly poised the question if those people should be tolerated in our society. I can’t believe people bought into that crap.

Present day Canada is the odd person dying in emergency rooms waiting for treatment, a massive homelessness and affordability problem, remote communities still without access to drinkable water, forgotten veterans but they have no issue taxing us to death to give millions away to support foreign wars and causes. Let’s not forget the censorship bills they’ve rammed through.

Canada is a shell of its former self to say the least.

Well, you definitely don't get banned for not posting for an absurdly long amount of time.

actually you do. sometimes a ban on a post came so late it could be weeks or even months later. as long someone picks it up and report it.

I'm not saying having an old post come back to bite you in the a**; I'm saying you don't get banned for not posting anything for any reason for like a decade.

LoL sure they do. But take some responsibility for your nonsense. Having an opinion doesn't make you immune from being called out on rubbish. Throwing Nazis into the conversation when you clearly have no idea what you're talking about is an example of the amplified rhetoric that's undermined Western society's capacity to engage in constructive political discourse.

Both sides do it. Left and right, both calling each other fascists over even the most minor points of disagreement.

Embrace reason, historical facts and common sense Potato. Words should have meaning. Casually throwing them around debases that meaning, and suddenly everyone we disagree with is a Nazi, and every idea we don't like is fascist. Ironically, that's kind of how Nazism got started in the first place.
I understand the totalitarianism latent in the actions of liberal governments over the past few years, but the genuinely ridiculous part if it is that the ones calling it Naziism think they’re exempt. They actually believe that becoming more nationalist, more sexist, and more racist is not a repeat of the exact pattern that occurred in Europe as social democracy threatened to bankrupt the post-WWI economies. The reactionaries became more insular, more paranoid, more superstitious, and more commercially anal than the threat. If someone wanted them to capitulate to being controlled, all they had to do was say “Boo” and the clutchers would ask to be ruled. And so they have.

Can you believe the popularity of flat-Earth theory amongst the conservatives right now? Reptilian Zionists from Mars. Elites eating babies. They turned on billionaires faster than a German pig farmer. It’s wild. Once upon a time, I thought they meant it when they claimed to be for liberty. They just wanted lower truck payments and a guarantee that the hooker they scored in Vegas wouldn’t have a positive connection under that skirt, because they can’t tell without a strong leader telling them it’s safe. (“Is it safe?” -Lawrence Olivier)

You cannot make this sht up.

This thread should be banned.

For exceeding a dozen marxist root canals in only a half a dozen pages while having no understanding of means of production nor the thread's title: "What happened actually?":lol

It’s funny because the only difference between the Bolsheviks and the NSDAP was nationalism. The fascists were arguably Hegelian, but the radical social theorists from whom Marx derived his communism were known as the Left Hegelians. Marxism is just a materialist version of Hegel’s superstition (they were both Lutheran).

Neither of them were capitalists. Just like now.
