Definitley don't agree with that, the DOFP Future Wolverine sculpt is better

Base sculpt on the old one better, but this has been the case since proto.

Only reason the new one might look better is because of the paint. The new one is like they took the old sculpt and gave him an open mouth without moving his jaw at all.

I'm gonna backup @Spanbauer here. Night and day. The DOFP future version is showing it's age now.

And I like that figure, fwitw. I did when everyone else hated it.

The big thing, and it doesn't matter who the sculpt is of, is that beards aren't solid in real life. The degree of translucency on shorter facial hair can't be captured on a sculpt. That simply changes the shape of the sculpt visually.

I think that's where sculptors go wrong with Arnold Schwarzenegger heads, particularly when attempting his T2 hairstyle. They sculpt to the absolute outer silhouette of the hair they can see and fail to understand that when you can't convey the ''translucency'' of the hair - since it's solid plastic - you instead create a completely wrong impression of the actual shape of his skull.

The old DOFP sculpt (shown on the right) is still better than the new one.

I think this is becoming a mix-up of comparison criteria because there's a difference between, a) accuracy and capturing the actor's/character's likeness, compared to, b) being lifelike and finer in detail and paint apps. The old sculpt is over 7 years now so it surely is dated, but it still resonates with the character likeness and feels more accurate. The new sculpt is sharper and a bit more lifelike, but it doesn't capture Jackman's Logan as well. While the paint apps may be better the actual sculpting is worse.

For a 2023 sculpt it actually seems oddly back-dated, like something we'd have settled for years ago, but not nearly as well executed as it could be by today's standards. Regardless of how we rationalize it, I don't think anyone will be calling this one of the best sculpts of 2023. No, this one will be at the bottom of the list for the year.

Wondering if anyone received their 1973 from Sideshow yet? Been out for awhile and it’s dragging, was thinking it’s cause I POed late.

My Flex was pushed back to February. This was just last month since they decided to add the replacement name plate sticker.
