Re: Scottyb AKA (yourmaster)Revan 80% done
Wow, very nice job with Revan! And your first castings a few pages back look pretty good to me. I still remember my first batch of the Alumilite stuff, my first casts had horrible bubbles everywhere.
Good luck with your customs work!
I've just come back to poke my head in again and check in on some of my favorite customs on the board - those casts look awesome, as always, Dorgs!
I still can't believe how amazingly well Katkuru's Starkiller turned out.
I hope if he comes back soon, if he's disappeared for the moment like...
How odd that you should say that - just today, I realized that I've lost my entire set of custom armor for this project. :slap
This isn't the first time, either - back when I was trying to make the armor and helmet out of only paper, glue, and paint (with no superglue or sculpey,) I got most of...
Hey witekite, I had no idea you were selling this guy! I did a quick search on eBay for "sideshow clones," and a pic of your Pre Viszla caught my eye.
Do you always sell your customs? I couldn't imagine parting with such a cool creation.
Thanks Force28x! And symmetry is definitely tough... I started out with a perfectly symmetrical 3D computer model, turned directly into a paper model, and this helmet still isn't quite straight! :wink1:
I bet even the real props used in the movies aren't quite straight from all angles though...
Thanks Gregorbian!
I'm glad you like the helmet, I've been working on it for ages! If you could see it in person, it'd be more obvious it was handmade... It's a bit crooked in places! I try not to let it show so much in the pictures, though.
And I'm glad you think the blaster has that "Star...
There are certainly other people who are more qualified than me to answer this question from their own experiences with latex bodies. (Even ones that have made/attempted to make a 1/6 Darth Talon before.)
I haven't actually tried to paint a latex body before, but I can tell you now: I...
Yeah, the SW customs section is pretty slow this week... When I came back from being gone a little while ago, I was almost just thinking it was dying off...
Anyway, R2-whoever-he-is looks great so far! Especially next to Dorg's GONK. It seems like Dorgs hasn't worked on any Star Wars stuff in a...
Ah, that makes sense.
I'm still kicking myself for trying to be all unique and independent by scratch-making a Mando custom, I almost feel like I should have just bought another Ultimate Villains Jango or something. Yours turned out very well.
Although I personally despise the Clone Wars character, your interpretation of Pre Viszla is lookin' pretty good!
Nicely done Witekite, how did you make that dark saber?
Re: Yodacappy's Projects - Currently: Curio and Yoda's Hut Display UPDATED 8/29!!!
:panic: What? Pictures? Nooo!!! That's impossible!!
*ahem* I concur with barryo. Lookin' good so far!
Mirrors are always good for display cabinets. That way, you can just pretend you have twice as many action...
After sculpting the vent in the back of the helmet, I gave the whole thing a nice, solid baking in my garage-dwelling toaster oven.
When it was cool, I painted it a neutral-looking grey color to pick out the bumps and flaws:
Some of the imperfections you see are from the paintbrush...
Thanks, man! I'm glad you like it, I felt like using part of an AK-47 was a bit of a risky move, since the AK is so recognizable. It's really coming together now, though.
Ok, so next up we have some work I've been doing on the helmet all this time.
I essentially cut a square hole for the vent in the back of the helmet, as you can see here:
I refined the earpiece a little:
Next, I added a curved piece of index card (reinforced with superglue) to the...
