It isn't about pleasing the customers, it's about what gets them more money. If they can get away with making an essential accessory part of a different release, that's incentive for more people to buy it if they were either not interested or waffling on it. This is something that happens...
If you want spoilers that aren't just some guy trying to fish for views, watch Herms' Twitter feed very closely. He only posts from reputable sources like WSJ.
It's not a matter of if so much as when. Rubber is 100% guaranteed to rot away after enough time and I seriously hope Tamashii doesn't take that route with their figures. I'd much rather just have seams instead of my figures irreversibly melting away.
Knowing how lazy Tamashii is, I wouldn't be surprised if the Super Saiyan Blue renewals were just their old outfits with repainted heads, since everything they would need is already sculpted.
While the ratings thing may sound scary, traditional TV ratings don't really mean what they used to. Streaming isn't counted towards ratings so those two sites that the special ended up crashing don't factor into it. The series is doing fine as far as we know so don't let stuff like ratings...
