Yeah, it'd be cool if Boba Fett drags himself out of the Sarlacc and fades away into a quiet life of obscurity for years, but old man Boba gets pulled back into the life for some kind of revenge/redemption story. I'm thinking a Star Wars/John Wick/Unforgiven deal.

Maybe Boba Fett movie will be more like The Punisher.

He's more or less a neutral character, so no real change of heart or ideology has to take place. He just does the job he's paid for.

I can see it now, he's paid to do a job that goes bad and it turns out he was set up, so he goes out looking for revenge.

Then he meets a girl who's even better than he is... and they team up to right some wrongs... and Fett learns he has a kind heart after all... until his girl turns on him... wait a minute.

If Solo bombs as bad as they are saying; I really doubt Boba Fett is going to get his own movie.

I'll be surprised if Obi Wan still gets one.... even with Ewan Mcgregor as the lead.

"In the wake of Solo, one could reasonably wonder at this point if Disney has a rethink on that Boba Fett movie."


With the ST wrapping up and Solo perhaps proving that major SW movies without the Skywalkers (or not set inside the OT,) Disney is staying in SW by focusing on what exactly?

Other than turning the Fett movie into an ESB hard prequel like RO, or turning the Obi-Wan movie into a "just a few years before ANH..." (i.e. fully grafted onto ANH like RO was) how can major SW movies work? A new trilogy wholly unrelated to the OT and Skywalkers? It works for an animated series or video game, but it seems pretty risky for a $250m movie after Solo.

For Disney MCU was always wide open (and still is,) but there seems to be few clear paths forward for SW that don't have great risk for burning a ton of money now that Han, Luke and Leia are gone, and the "it's the same 'ol OT story but with a girl" ST is at an end.

Universal has the rights to the Marvel characters east of the Mississippi. Otherwise they'd have already broken ground on Marvel Land at Disney World by now.
