With the latest Hot Toys announcement of the ESB Vader and that measly scaled gantry base, any chance you guys would be interested in producing a truer-to-scale version that includes the extension that Luke jumps from?

If so, put me down first on that list. :lecture

I would want it displayed on my wall, just like the Swing Bridge Dio.

:goodpost: that would be a great build, I think wall hung displays is the future :yess: if there's enough interest from you guys I'm sure we could make a few.
Drop me an email and if there is enough interest I'll see what I can do :wink1:

I'm up for it if Jay is

Edit: just read Jay's reply and it looks like he is up for it. ( prototype build in the new year ? )

Update time,

Nothing exciting but it's important to me that you guys see that these are getting done.

Primer is going on, this will take me a few days as I have to spray the primer outside as my spray booth can't handle this amount of paint and fumes in one go. I do wear a respirator but the fumes haven't got any where else to vent down here in the cave and if they don't go through the booth they just hang around in the air, Plus I have the wife and kids to think of ( I'd get rid of them, but to be honest they've been around for so long they feel almost like part of the family)

But mostly I really don't want to risk the few brain cells I have left by breathing in more toxic fumes than I have to.

Once they are all primed I can do the rest of the painting at my booth inside and in the warm but for this stage it's the best I can come up with. its getting colder here in Narnia now ( it was below freezing when I got up and only 2 degrees when i started painting this morning ) and even with warming the paint cans in hot water it's still spraying a little thick so I'm going to do multiple light coats with a day to dry Inbetween so I end up with a nice smooth and even solid base to work from and not a lumpy rough finish that will take an age to sand out lol. I reckon I'll be finished priming on Saturday or Sunday with a bit of luck

Behold my outdoor paint shack, it's windy up here and this helps to keep the primer on the target and out of the atmosphere ( and more importantly the neighbors washing on the line ) :clap

Technique used is "mask on, spray then GTFO before the air gets too toxic and I lose consciousness :rotfl"

It's all working fine except for one small error on my part and that is I didn't put anything on the floor so will have a nice grey rectangle there when I'm done ( I only noticed this now while posting these pics :slap

1st coat is on but only on the top and front, back and sides wil get theirs in the morning

Also along with the bridges Jason gave me these ( I hope it's ok to post here )
they won't be seeing any paint until the bridges are finished but I'm going to prime them alongside the bridges while I've got the shack set up.

The Walking Dead meets here's Johnny

More bridge progress in a couple of days

Looking good so far buddy, sorry for the amount of builds I sent over, I'd run out of space in the J-Cave

A quick run down of the Star Wars dio's currently on the bench.

1x v4 (deeper doorway) almost complete, should be complete this weekend.
1x Mos Eisley Door dio is 98% complete, I wasn't happy with how the 4x LEDs cast light so I'm making a few improvements, depending on how well the v4 goes, this should also be completed this weekend.
1x v2 bridge / base complete and 60% of the parts CNC'd (really really sorry I missed this one off the first v2 build)
1x v5 (double lighting & door open) This thing is going to be a beast, but ridiculously awesome. That's if I can make what's in my head. Front panels and details cnc'd and just tweaking the cutting patterns for the frames as this is a completely new design from anything else I've made so far.

Everyone's patients is very much appreciated as we are running a little behind the original build times.
All the best guys

Jas

@Pete: lovin the Narnia spray booth mate :hi5: you seen any Lions or Witches yet? :horror

Yeah, these look pretty great. Kicking myself for missing out. For this being a team effort, and being more than down the street apart, you guys are puling this off like a well oiled machine.

I don't mind having a load at a time I'd have happily taken them all if I could have but I don't think they would have fitted into the car.
The only reason I managed to get these back over the border was because you where there to help me fit them into the petemobile. Left to my own devices they would have ended up,strapped to the roof:lol

If I keep huffing paint fumes the way I am I'm sure I will soon :panic:

It's much easier for me as I spend all my working days with a paint brush or airbrush in my hand so I have more time but it's harder for Jay as he has a full time job in the real world

It's my fault for deciding 7 years ago to move the whole tribe out of civilization and into the middle of nowhere but it's not all bad here and I've hear a rumor we might be getting electricity and colour tv in a few years ( I'll believe it when I see it ) I wish we did live a bit closer though as it would make things a lot easier when we need to work things out. Skype is godsend but still not as good as being in the same room with the builds in front of us.

This one is a custom build :wink1:

I had exactly the same thought lol.

We have been referring to it as the "double door" but it's fitting to call it a v5.0

That's awesome. So does the door actually slide open or is it cracked open so reveal Stormie feet? Or is there no door at all and part of hallway revealed?

The door will be fully open revealing more of the hallway.
A bit of a tricky build TBH due to doubling the weight of the bridge and with the added weight of the extra figures, I need to ensure it can hold if wall hung.
So a full bespoke internal frame Will need developing.

Oh, that’s me causing all the trouble. Sorry about that..but I figured a lack of door would help balance out the weight. Let me know if you need more funding for this. Can wait...very patient over here. :wink1:
