I have been preordering my stuff of eBay for five years now and this is the one and only time I am remotely concerned. Preordering is often cheaper than retail, especially with Hot Toys. That is why people do it.

It's not the preorder part that makes iffy. It's the eBay part there is often no recourse if things go wrong with an eBay preorder.

yup for a pre-order its like 30 days.....then your screwed.......sooner or later your gonna get screwed....just stick with high feedback people.....

Who did you preorder the figure from on ebay? Cause I have seen only the ones at $200. If you don't mind me asking.

Again, I have been buying many Hot Toys over five years most of whom are far over the 30 days and actually up to a year for some Iron Mans and such and I have never ever had an issue, not one. And of course I am going for reputable sellers with great feedback ...obviously.

In your initial post, you were asking about seller protections, so others were posting here assuming that you were concerned about that, and giving suggestions to that effect. If you aren't worried after all, then good luck to you. But it is a risky proposition. We've seen good sellers go bad here on a few occasions.

Some eBay sellers will stipulate a prolonged delivery date to accommodate the pre-order time lag. I recently purchased something on Aug. 10, not realizing the seller didn't have the item in stock (therefore a pre-order) and the latest date in his delivery estimate was Oct. 10 (I assumed this was due to the seller being in France and I'm in the US).

I called eBay, who confirmed that the latest date I could file a non-delivery date was one month after that latest date, which would have been Nov. 10 (and I asked the agent to confirm this at least twice!) In my case, the estimated delivery date range was a key factor as far as buyer's protection was concerned. So, what I suggest for anyone who makes a pre-order purchase on eBay is to call eBay afterwards and have them confirm the latest date you can file a non-delivery complaint, just in case. Oh, and yes, as others have said check the feedback rating!

I preordered one of the first HT Batman figures on ebay close to ten years ago. At the time Sideshow was not carrying the line so I chose an overseas seller with excellent feedback but the figure was still close to being 6 months due for release. The seller went out of business several months later and I figured I was screwed as there was literally no recourse left for me. To my shock and pleasure the figure arrived about a month after its release date and my faith in humanity was restored...but not so restored because now I only preorder through reputable US distributors or wait until the product is in hand if I buy on ebay. Of course it also helps that paypal has extended the time frame to file a dispute.

Any time you PO with an nrd or pre payment you run the risk that the retailer goes under and takes your money with them. I used to buy regularly from cornerstore comics in CA. I stopped only because i found a closer retailer.

When they went under they stopped responding on FB, no replies to email. Pretty sure people lost their deposits.

Thats why when i PO'd hulkbuster i went with sideshow. I figured theyre the least likely to go under.

Yeah, I had that happen with VikingPlayground.com. Had two figures preordered, paid in full. Lost all that money when they went under.

I'd love to grab preorder this guy, but it looks like he may or may not ever exist.

I can't help but begin to be concerned about this. It's months after it was due to come out now, there's been barely a word from VTS about it, and a lot of hype has died down by now

C'mon... :impatient:

If we are lucky it should be out this October. Seeing as how all the new 1/6th figures are being released this month. Or at least some.

Since it was supposed to come out around May or June, wouldnt it come out near the end of December or January, which is 6 months later. I've read somewhere on this thread the Morgan Freeman figure from VTS was also delayed, and I think they said it was delayed for 6 months.

yeah relax guys it will come out--sooner than later hopefully

People keep mentioning that the Weapons Advisor was delayed, but I didn't actually know it was for as long as six months. That's reassuring, funnily enough. :lol But if it does come out around December, I think VTS should really think about adjusting their expectations of their turnaround times...

Dam toys takes forever to release figures....I'm not worried this and epoch will come out eventually
