Nooooooooooooooooooooo :( Sorry to hear man. On the plus side you can expect weta to arrange a pick up by the courier so you don't have to carry a 20kg box to the post office.

Got the reply from Weta. I am to smash the piece and they will send me another one from the August shipment. Have to get cracking.

Well, at least you don't have to try repackaging it. I heard the packaging for this is a bit of a nightmare.

But disposing of the statue and the packaging is a pain, as we have very limited garbage and recycling space quotas in Toronto, have to pay more to throw out more. I'll probably have to split the remains of the statue to several garbage pickups. This will drag out for weeks.

Break it up into powder and let him fly one last time.

it's quiet...!

This week the SDCC will start on thursday.
Will there be new statues revealed?

A Christopher Lee Saruman to honor the man.
Bring on a Beorn bear,or some kind of eagle.

Josh are you gonna be there to take some pictures please?

Well I think we can conclude the es of 2000 was justified. Balrog at 1500 is now in stock and Smaug has never been in stock and going fast, people recieved numbers above #800 already and next two shipments are already gone. If you want this might not be wise waiting for it to be in stock, it might never be.

Wonder what this will go for on secondary market when sold out.

Mine came in the latest shipment and is number 641. I think 2000 is easily justified. Such an incredible piece.

Secondary market price is now 699€ /$772
weta site 674€ / $744
I bought it on weta for 560€ / $618

Sort of sounds like that one of those sold out production runs are the ones people are getting now and it's the second run for October that is sold.

Assuming that they are at least using numbers in order, then being around 800 now, likely means around 1000 in October. Hence that still leaves another 1000 to go, with all the new stuff from SDCC about to hit. So yes, it may never actually be 'in stock', as they start to slow down production (given it's size, one really wouldn't want 100 Smaug boxes sitting in a warehouse), but I still think it's going to take sometime to actually fully sell out.

I got mine the other day from Weta and it was #273 . I wonder why mine was so low while others were in the 800s?

Which puts a bit of a kink in the 'assuming they are using numbers in order'.

Even if they are and have hence made 800+, that already proves that not all 800 have shipped out. So yeah, I still think a good 1000 of the ES is left, so only half sold out at this stage.

Agree...always thought this and the Balrog will take it's time selling out....maybe in 2016...maybe...and agree totally lots of more wants/competition will be shown at SDCC to slow down Smaug/Rog sales further :) ....plus the fact the trilogy is over isn't helping either

Has there been any mention on new Weta pieces at SDCC?
