I really don't get the love for TWS. I thought it was technically excellent (apart from make-up on Evans which was very stupid looking in HD) but joyless and dull.
Great action scenes but not a lot else, it was the first misstep for me in having a united Marvel universe, it was just trying to be too realistic IMO and came out flat.
I can't understand how it could exist in the same world as Thor2 or Avengers. The characters were completely different tonally.

There I've said it. I know everyone else loves it!
:lol

:goodpost:agreed imo TWS isn't that good .

It was a fun movie, but I don't think it's as good as people make it out to be. I enjoyed Guardians more and I think Days of Future Past was a more engaging film.

But I also didn't think ASM2 is as bad as people make it out to be. It has moments that I can definitely do without, but when it's all clicking, I think it has wonderful moments. It's just an erratic film.

Ha, you've got to stop comparing it other superhero movies like TWS and GOTG and look at it only against other Spidey films. Regardless of ASM2's flaws there's no way I'm choosing another one over it (not even S2.)

It's got some of the best comic to screen action EVER and Gwen's death is on par with Superman crying over Lois in STM. Good stuff.

Well, it was better than ASM1:You will believe a basketball can spin webs. :dunno

That was powerful stuff. I loved her so much as Gwen Stacy I really felt the hurt for Peter on that one. I think the action and fight sequences are the best Spider-Man action bits on screen ever, so it has that working for it. I didn't really care for dweeby Jamie Foxx (I thought it was too silly) but then on a serious note there are people like that and they have serious issues, so I could kind of see it. I really liked him as Electro though, especially once Harry frees him. And speaking of Harry, I did enjoy seeing him and Peter rekindle their friendship but it dissolved too fast imo. I loved how Aunt May broke down to Peter, though that was one of the strongest points in the film. I thought the last scene with Rhino was a perfect way to end a Spidey film. I loved when he stands up for the kid being bullied and walks him home. All those were homeruns.

The parents BS backstory I can totally do without at this point. I do think Peter and Gwen went back-and-forth a bit too much. And their relationship isn't that cute anymore. They are both looking too old to try to pull off that highschool charm, especially Pete. The Rhino's first scene could have been a more fun opening. I also think some of the humor was too forced.

Yeah, I think ASM2's flaws are totally forgivable though. It just came out after people were already turned off by the "basketball" thing and also during a summer that has had some of the best superhero competition ever.

Yeah. I bought it the first day it came out on Blu Ray as I certainly will with most of the blockbusters that came out this summer. I think it gets too much hate.

Watched it again at home in 3D last night. I really like this movie. It has flaws but it also has some of the best superhero scenes ever created.

Second viewing... Still terrible. Score, Goblin's character and Rhino are the only good parts.

Here's hope that at least Venom's gonna be classic looking and enjoyable in future movies, tho I have no intention to watch them on a big screen.

I think erratic is an excellent description.
The back story seemed out of place. I understand why they did it but maybe they should have made Richard use his own DNA as a fail safe because he didn't trust Norman from the start. A mention of Harry in ASM1 would have made his introduction less forced. "Surprise I'm your old best friend from before puberty and yet we still connect".
Harry's sudden onset of symptoms it took Norman decades to suffer.
Not enough fleshing out of Colm Feore and his security guy.
The hidden train car.. wouldn't you need a construction crew to make the stuff to lift it with? Why not just a hidden room?
I really liked the Gwen and Peter stuff but it was too mature for HS students. I liked how they spent most of the film broken up.
There were really emotional scenes with Aunt May and Gwen and were very well done.
It seemed to suffer from an identity crisis not sure of what kind of film to be.
6-7 out of ten for me.

Anyone else surprised they didn't include the the unused MJ scenes in the deleted scenes on the bluray? I read that the part might be recast in the sequel, but either way, I think those scenes would have been interesting to see.

Personally I would have loved to see Mary Jane in this, but people are complaining of too many characters as it is.
