The sleeve really upset me when mine started to peel! I ended up selling mine and getting the KOTCS PF. I'll either sell or trade that when the Pursit of the Ark statue comes out.

I will never sell mine... put a lot of money on him (paid $700 in a fortunate period for this figure on eBay) and i like it too much.

For now, you don't notice anything wrong because i fixed that little break, but if i touch it can break easily on the cuffs.
So i can only look at him now, to take no risk... and it's "okay" because it's in a glass case anyway.

But SHAME on Sideshow.

I'm repainting a special case for him (so it's on my desk for now) and just looking at him made ​​me want to see some photos of this statue on the internet to get some suggestions.. and i've realized that this statue looks simply bad in most photos around the internet. I haven't seen more than 10 pictures (like these maybe for example) that made him justice, when is in front of you, in real life... as some others PF figures, this looks almost real in person, a Harrison Ford in miniature.
What is this for example?

Paint on mine doesn't look like that, and there's a lot of other photos of him that simply shows a bad figure because of various reason, like the bag too thin, the laces of it too fragmented, the pants too low and swollen, the holster too in front... people just don't futz him.

So i had the idea to take some pictures to do him justice. Unfortunately i don't have any good camera right now, only a crappy iPhone 4's camera, so this is the end result, in the weirdest lighting condition ever:

Doesn't look like the one that i have in front of me, in 1/4 scale, much more life-like and well-proportioned. In some shot he looks totally another thing, while instead i think it's really done with museum quality.

Anyway people, point is, if you don't have this statue and have a chance to get one, buy it. It's amazing, much more amazing than any picture can possibly show.

I pulled my ROTLA Indy Premium Format from the display case a few months ago to find the cuffs of the sleeves had dried out and crumbled like others. I have had the figure on display without jacket for a few months and decided I never really liked the Sideshow jacket anyhow for a number of reasons, most of which were the 'Green' hue, and the overall length.

I decided to cut up the original jacket and use it as a pattern for a home made replacement. Having had VERY limited sewing experience in the past I had no idea if it would work, but thought what's the harm. The jacket is wrecked anyhow, diminishing my overall joy in owning the piece.

After a week here are the finished results along with a few modifications I made for personal preference...





The picture with flash is to try to show the true brown color. The leather-like material has a nice scale grain which I preferred to the original smooth green. I omitted the stormflap snaps, made the overall length 1/4" longer. I made the pockets larger, both for accuracy and to account for the added length. I also made the side straps functional for better fit and ease in putting it on. I did try to make the pocket flaps scalloped...but that was a lesson in frustration, so I opted for how Sideshow had made them, pointed.

While there are some areas I could have done a little better and could be more happy with, I no longer look at it as the ruined piece from the jacket. I am considering weathering it, and will color areas where the back of the fabric shows white such as the backs of the side-straps.

Just wanted to give some hope to those that have this piece and are saddened that it is falling apart.

Thanks. I did cut the old jacket off. I did not have to break it to get the new jack on because the material had a little give to stretch, and making the side straps adjusttable gave me a little more wiggle room.

$21 in material and thread from Joanne Fabrics. I reused the lining and zipper, as well as the strap buckles from the original jacket.

I was giving serious consideration to sawing off the right forearm. While test fitting the jacket prior to sewing on the sleeves I found I could slip it on one hand at a time bring it up from the legs. Adding the sleeves made it hard to get past the left thumb. I admit I thought a stitch would pop or I would break the thumb. I may take a crack at making a few now that I have an idea of what I'm doing. I realy think it was a combination of taking my time, a little trial and error, and dumb luck. My wife said she could not do it for me, and that I was on my own.
I do have some extra material, if I can make the time I may try my hand at some more. I would have to make a new liner and find a suitable zipper and strap buckles. Though the idea of a working zipper is appealing to me. I considered looking for a replacement when I made this jacket but opted for the original hardware to keep some of it's original sideshow elements.

I' ve been after one of these for a little while and now it's arrived. Just need to collect it from the post office. It's supposed to be new and only opened to check for damage.
I got the ex so i assume the face should'nt be too dark. Just really hope it has no issues like the ones mentioned on this forum eg. dried out glue on jacket cuffs.
Guess i'll find out soon! Can't wait to put him on display.

Check the edges of the cuffs, VERY gently. If it is not supple or you see signs of flaking or cracking, it will only get worse if you touch it. I have left my jacket alone since I noticed the problem and it is fine. Just looks more weathered. If your's is like mine, the regular head will be dark, the EX lighter.

I have left my jacket alone since I noticed the problem and it is fine. Just looks more weathered. If your's is like mine, the regular head will be dark, the EX lighter.

Just set this up today. I know this is considered an old statue by now, but wow what an impression it makes. It really is in the top 5 or so premium formats sideshow
Have done to date. The head sculpt is excellent even under all that factory paint, and the tailoring is top notch.
I checked the cuffs and they appear to be fine, but i will continue to monitor their condition over time.
Really happy to finally have one!

Thanks for the advice collectorNC, what you said about indy's tan on the ex and regular was true with mine too. Cheers
