Whilst it's cheaper to download or stream, there is no replacement for a good blu ray disc or CD. Call me old fashioned, but I like owning actual physical copies of movies and CD's, I like having a collection of films and music. It supports the industry too.

I don't like the whole "collection in the cloud" stuff. I want to put a CD on, and listen... not click a file on a laptop.

Agreed - nicely put. :hi5:

I've had Vudu/Netflix/Amazon crash numerous times on me, and I have Fios Quantum!

Screw that noise, I don't ever want my movie viewing time, limited as it is already, to be dependent on servers and the almighty internet.

Streaming is good for non critical viewing like for some movies you want to try out first to see if its worth buying, catching up with oldies that really haven't held up well or silly kids stuff.

I prefer my Raiders of the Lost Ark to be coming off a disk thru my hdmi cable right into my tv with no interference from "teh cloud"

Who buys dvd's?

I don't buy DVD's unless there is no blu ray option, but blu ray is still the best way to view a movie despite all of the streaming options these days, nothing else compares to the sound and picture through half decent equipment. I used top rent a lot from Blockbuster but they have now gone down the pan, unfortunately it seems I am in the minority now. Dredd looks awesome on Blu ray, I watched it on Sky movies HD the other week, it just couldn't compare.

It looks damn near Blu Ray quality on my TV, watching Netflix through my PS3. I have the fastest internet speed the cable company offers, though.

See? "Fastest internet speed" for "near Blu Ray quality." No thanks. I don't want "near" it, I want the real deal. :D

Now I do have a Netflix account so I am also buying less movies but even with Netflix I still have them send actual discs to my house.

Like DK89 said earlier - having an actual physical movie & music library can't be beat.

As far as films go - I don't own every stupid title known to man, just classics & guilty pleasures.

No clutter in my set up. :duff

I disagree. Women blowing octopuses and sticking roaches in their coochies is something that should not exist. :lecture

My favorite Japanese game show was the girl who could remain conscious the longest with men suffocating them with pantyhose over their entire head and face with extra points going to who could make funny faces thru the pantyhose. :horror

Those Japanese game shows are hilarious. :lol

The one with the guy locked in the glass sauna box was excellent. They'd get hot little bikini girls walking up to the box holding huge stynes of beer & licking their lips at the poor lackey, while the heat was gradually being turned up.

They make the funniest faces when they're in pain. :lol
