When did diecast suddenly become such a bad word?

Does anyone have diecast toys from the 70s? Matchbox? The Shogun Warriors? The Mazingers? Mine all look pretty much the same as they did 35 years ago. Theres no paintwear on them except for the ones I left buried in sand for too long and even those look damn good considering my treatment of them. :lol

If theres a paint issue, its a paint issue, diecast isn't a Unicorn, its no mythical beast, its widely used and has been in everything from toys to cars for decades. Hot Toys has had problems with paint, rubber, and plastic in the past, if theres growing pains with them transitioning over to diecast, it is what it is.

You're a troll because you keep bringing it up and nobody agrees with you. We know your position, as wrong as it is, and we don't care.

If you don't want the diecast line that's fine. If you think it's too expensive, that's fine too.

Everybody else is loving it, and are very happy with it.

Move on.
Spot on. If we find a thread (say, for example, Celtic Predator) that you like and keep harping on how the paint apps are horrible etc and such with no end in sight... We would be trolls on something you enjoy. We would have no intention on our purchasing it, so it would appear that we are there to merely disagree to just disagree with prole who enjoy the item. Foolish endeavor.

Feel free to politely express your opinion once then go about your day but don't harp man. But wow, I don't have 4678566643577 posts, being an ER physician and having a family as well as not being able to monitor this board as much as others that have been on here for YEARS makes my opinion mean diddly squat.

Logic isn't for everyone gents.

Please don't bury your WM MKII in the sand ;)

Ah so post count makes your opinion valid here? Roger that. I'll post random on every thread for thread then I'm awesome. By your logic I'm the with the knowledge.

Not saying that, but dont tell another member that he's not welcome to post his opinion when you are new here

well in the MMS 233 thread we all complained constantly and HT actually made a ton of changes to it... so there is a point to continue bringing up an issue or opinion..

and about only expressing your opinion once... obviously you havent been on boards much or for any length of time... threads go to thousands of pages and if the oposition all voiced their disliking of something at pages 1-5 and then got buried by all the fangirls whos panties are soaking wet over diecast and their "toy" feeling like an actual suit of armor then new comers looking for info would receive a ton of biased opinion and info. I guess logic is for doctors...

His opinion, best as I can I tell, is simply he just doesn't like diecast.

Here's the solution to that: do not buy the diecast products.

Respectfully: would you mind cluing me into the changes that were made due to the expressed opinions?

Ah, so again with your infinite and infallible wisdom once I get your current post count I can start telling new members what they can and cannot do?

a bunch of us have stated the flaws with diecast and our experience with it. its a cheap metal and a gimmick, has its uses in limited quantities but HT went overboard, and while seemingly giving you guys diecast removed articulation in the neck. and the pieces that were originally intended for dicast (SC and HB) were put in the plastic line, I think there is a reason HT's is treading carefully with the diecast stuff

and I can try and find the pics of the updates, Basically we got a new Head, Gauntlets, bone trophy things on the blade, and a ton of other minor detailing (this is the MMS 233 elder predator)

No, even I dont tell people what they shouldnt share their opinion... I may argue with them but your coming from the approach of shut up and dont talk if you dont like something..

Yet again you return to the length of time I've been on the board.

1. I read the board for near a year prior to signing up or purchasing an item.
2. Because I do not have time to post an opinion on every comment that I would like to with the schedule that I maintain doesn't mean that I am any less informed: Mike from Breaking Bad rarely spoke at meetings when Fring met with prominent members of the cartel but that didn't make him any less informed.
3. He isn't expressing process improvements to this figure: he is expressing that he merely does not like diecast. He keeps on that point. I am not the only one to notice this. He isn't saying that "the gatling gun appears to be wrong" or something to that affect he is merely on this thread to keep reminding people that are purchasing this figure that he will not be spending his money on this item because he doesn't enjoy diecast products.

If he had something constructive to say about his displeasure then there would be no issues but he unfortunately does not.

I think that logic is sound.

I've heard lots of people talk about all these problems with diecast, but really don't remember being shown hard examples. The only issues I've seen with diecast are when entire large figures are diecast so the joints won't support the weight or the center of gravity is thrown off. That is not the case with this war machine at all. Instantly he is the most sturdy posing Iron Man hot toy I have. Takes very little effort to get him into a stable pose, even an extreme one, whereas it takes plenty of futzing about with my mark vii, midas and ii to get them stable.

I haven't messed with the neck much, but in my first impressions handling war machine I've only noticed improvements in articulation in regards to the legs.

The diecast is not overused, and the weight gives the figure added stability and a pleasant feeling in the hands.

As for paint, cheap paint is cheap paint and good paint apps are good paint apps. I have heavily handled doecast gokins and voltrons from the 80s with paint that has stood the long test of time. On the other hand there are plastic iron man figures and plastic captain america shields with rapidly fading, cracking and chipping paint. Pointing to diecast as an inherent culprit for paint issues is a misnomer. It's all in the application and I've seen no evidence to support that we should be worried about the paint apps on a diecast figure anymore than we should be worried about the paint apps on a plastic figure.

In the statue forums, weight is very important. Weight doesn't automatically equate to quality, but weight does typically add stability unless something's weight is totally out of whack and top heavy. Proper Added weight helps keep figures on their feet during small tremors, or large semis driving by outside, or someone stomping around near your display case. That, combined with the pleasant and personal experience of enjoying the heft of a figure in your hand, something that one can not experience themselves but can't deny that others experience, give people the idea that extra weight often means some extra quality. And it is an extra quality, in the strictest sense of the word, whether you think it is a better or worse quality, is up to the beholder.

I absolutely agree I have seen those posts and they're informative.

Disregard: I found a constructive post.

One barely constructive post to a bunch of posts goading other members doesn't equal out. I believe Walker was just trying to instigate. I am also welcome to my opinion as well.

Back to MMS223: can you clue me in on that history?

Never said you werent i was only acknowledging the one comment I bolded, he may be reinforcing the point a little more than necessary but its still his opinion.

Basically HT put up a set of pics for an "updated" elder 2.0... It was ok but lacked a ton of accuracy and was largely disliked, we complained so much that within a week HT released a new sculpt and a bunch of other accessories as well as updating the feet to the proper looking ones, first time they hace ever responded so quickly to fangirl outcry.
