If they got them from Sideshow at wholesale price, then you'd think that they'd make the same amount on them that they did on their pre-orders if they chose to sell it at retail price. Probably a little more actually, since CSC normally gives a slight discount below Sideshow's retail price during the pre-order period.

If they got them from a different source at a higher price, then it's a different story though.

Either way it comes down to how much they know people will buy these for. $350 seems to be a no brainer so why not $400+. If people are willing to fork it out you cant really blame them for selling it at that price.

corner store comics has a few of these in stock for $400

that's a bit ridiculous...if they have them in stock then they should sell them for retail price

they're a retail store, why are they selling them for scalper prices?

Because they can.

Are you that dude from spawn boards?

You're right. People are paying those prices. That's totally true, but at the same time it still leaves a bad taste in the mouth of some collectors that have been supporting those retailers for years, and I can totally understand that perspective as well.

I've been collecting these things for quite some time now. This retailer massive mark-up strategy within this hobby is a rather recent phenomenon that never used to happen with retailers like Bigbadtoystore and Cornerstorecomics. A couple lesser known and smaller places used to do it, but the big name, highly respected collectible e-shops always kept the product at or below the msrp. Now, I don't claim to know everything that's behind it. Perhaps Sideshow's new policies that limit the quantities retailers can obtain and the discounts they can offer has something to do with this strategy being aggressively implemented, but you can understand that it doesn't exactly reflect well on the retailer from some buyers' perspectives.

l really respect Alter Ego Comics for the way they handle it. If they get any extra figures beyond the quantity that fills their pre-order quota, they put them up for sale at the Sideshow retail price. Yes, it's a little higher than their pre-order price, but it's still at the price that Sideshow set for the item. The market seems to have dictated that pre-orders must be put in for these things these days, whether that is due to more buyers or lower production numbers. I prefer not to pre-order and buy when they are in-stock due to the unpredictable release dates of these things, but with this change, I'm putting all of my pre-orders in with Alter Ego.

You have a year , A YEAR, to preorder. No one to blame but yourself. BBTS , cSC all honored the initial $229.99 po price. These are cancelled orders or extras. After filling preorders, they can do as they please...

The Mark VII and Hulk didnt even sell out till March 2013. Thats a good nine months the po window was open. Its useless to complain about retailers marking this up because YOU DECIDED NOT TO PREORDER IT EARLY. Its your fault, not thiers.

This may seem stupid to some, but IMO "retail store" should equal "retail price". If you want to sell for eBay prices, sell on eBay.

Loki came out right around the time I went to Wizard World Philly. I had a PO with BBTS but I had cash on me so I Checked a local stores website that was on the way. He was previously up for preorder at retail price, the day it came in stock the owner jacked the price up to $400. So I said nevermind, and figured I'd check the convention itself. One seller had him for $270, almost bought it but it had no shipper so I held off. We decided to walk down to Brave New Worlds on 2nd street and they had him for $220 plus tax. Walked out with my Loki.
The stores that get my buisness are the ones that aren't blinded by greed.

See...thats another thing, people are lazy. Even after Hulk and Iron Man came out, I acquired both for retail, or in case of Hulk, $10 more than SSC cost. Deals are to be found, not hand delivered

I preorder early and pay in full. When I po, I take advantage of discounts. I know ill want the figure, and ive guaranteed myself the piece pre ordering early. My shop has a discount when you pay in full so I take full advantage of it. Then when it comes in stock, its up for retail, or retail plus more.

Plus, people are the forum have been selling the vii from $285~350

Yes we know they CAN do as they please. The question is SHOULD they sell at more than retail if they are retailers? My opinion is no. They are being simply greedy by selling at Ebay prices. What is the customer's incentive to buy from them if it can be purchased somewhere else for the same price? And what about the customers that expect to see a retail price and see a scalper's price from a retailer. They will lose future business. It's simply not good business if that means anything.

Thanks.
Its a heavily modified slim. Wider arms, hips and chest. Lengthened neck, torso and thighs. Lee hands. Also cut the grey shirt to use only the sleeves.

Y'know, that body looks about right for the actual actor. Which makes the concept of RDJs frame fitting ANY of the Mks seem odd. I know this isn't the place to discuss realism in a COMIC BOOK movie...but he just doesn't have the build for it. You need someone tall, wide frame, long limbs...like...hugh jackman.

Exactly. When an item goes up for pre order and you know you'll want it, order it. I pre order and forget it. Too many people don't pre order, or "on the fence" for, say, a year. It finally comes out, is a hit, and that's when people scramble to get it. Take Superman MOS. I know he's a DC character. Well he's been up for pre order for a few months now. Sold out on most but still up on SS. I would think most people have him ordered already. I like Superman, first MOS figure, 200th MMS, I know he'll be a hit, pre ordered him pretty much when he was first available. But watch when he is released, people will come out of hibernation and scramble for him.
