I gather that a lot of the hardcore fans stopped following this series since MGS 4. Peace Walker's sales were practically abysmal.

Most of the new fans of this series are annoying as heck.

And rightfully so. Chico, Amanda, Paz and Huey are the bane of the franchise in my eyes. PW had the worst cast of the series.

Let's hope that things change with MGS V. I don't think I'll ever get over Hayter's absence though. It's going to be so strange playing that game and hearing Jaku Bawa's voice instead.

I'm still stunned how easily this went through with most fans. There was so much uproar when we heard Hayter wasn't in it, but the Kief is Biggu Buss?

I think a lot of folks are just under the false impression that Hayter will be returning to voice Solid Snake in this game, or perhaps in a future game. There hasn't been any confirmation of that. Just erroneous speculation from a few YouTube personalities, and a false listing on IMBD that claims he was casted for MGS V.

For all we know, Hayter could decide to give Kojima and company the finger, for letting him go like that - just to show that he isn't a piece of tissue to be used, thrown away, and then reused. I'd actually support him if he did it

I'm behind Hayter in any decision he wants to make regarding Konami/Kojima. Kojima has ****ed the franchise up enough for me to easily stop being invested in it and even more so if Hayter takes a hike for good.

I'm actually at the point where I need convincing to follow this series in the long run. I'm not entirely enthused by the "New Coke" direction that Kojima has been taking since Peace Walker.

Hayter is Snake. Even when Kiefer is done with this game, I'm willing to bet that most people wouldn't even think about "Big Boss" or "Snake" when Kiefer Sutherland comes to their mind.

I got a feeling they are going to use hayters absence in this installment for the hype on the next upcoming ones... Like using words such as David is back! w/c pertains to both hayter and snake etc.

I'd rather see more Big Boss games with Kief as long as Kojima is leading, than getting an MGS1 remake by a 3rd party studio even if it means having Hayter back, they just won't get it right.

But who knows, I'll always have my PSone black disk copy so they can do whatever they want with the remakes I guess?

I was actually hoping the MG remakes with both Hayter and Sutherland, but now I don't think it could happen...

Seems like Kojima is using each era or decade following Snake Eater in the 60's. So hopefully that does mean MG remakes set in the 90's after this.

You're right, it's impossible to rule anything out nowadays. Kojima has completely lost his way the last 5 or so years. His story telling is terrible compared to MGS1 2 3. It's just not compelling and captivating anymore, although MGS5 feels like an improvement thus far. But after looking at the cast of characters... it's still going to have this new Kojima weirdness.

Isn't Bale still in the running? He himself wants to do it as far as I know. The only way I can stomach a MGS movie if it's made like Advent Children with the original VAs in it.
