Yeah, I wasn't that enamored with it. Harmless, but I was a bit bored. I feel like I've seen this sort of episode too many times now.

I have been watching this sort of episode for over forty years and I still love it. You have to accept that Dr Who can't stray too far from its canon. It is a long-established family programme and people have certain expectations of it. Some of the episodes have frustrated me with their unfeasible plotlines or poor pacing, this one didn't. It is good, old fashioned Dr Who with an action twist. I wouldn't mind the whole of this half of Series 7 continuing in a similar vein.

Oh, believe me I've been a Doctor Who fan since I was 8 (so, that's about 26 years now) so I know there are certain expectations. I would argue you CAN push the format quite a bit (The Third Doctor years, Blink, Midnight, Human Nature... even the changeover from the 1st Doctor to the 2nd Doctor was quite a big change in a lot of ways) and it can still very much be Doctor Who. But that's all beside the point for my main issues.

There were a lot of things I liked, don't get me wrong. And even meh-ish Doctor Who is usually more fun and inventive than a lot of other television. But evil corporate villain, urban setting, prominent building, people being trapped in electronics, creepy things with rotating heads... look, there are certain motifs and settings that are starting to feel a bit too familiar here. I'm a huge Moffat fan in general and I generally enjoyed the start of series 7, but this just felt a bit limp and felt oddly like Russel T Davies-light. I actually enjoyed that shift in tone, to be honest. It was good to be back in London again. I just think this is going to be remembered more along the lines of "The Idiots Lantern" (solid, unspectacular and not particularly re-watchable) than the best of Who.
 
Yeah, I was just going with the flow. LOL. If a mod wants to move our posts over that's cool.

I didn't know DiD were bringing out a Churchill. I know Serang did one a while ago (which knocks spots off this one, frankly, but I can in no way afford Serang's). That is not bad at all, though. Tempting. I need something to balance my bunch of in-house Nazis.

My Eleventh Doctor arrived today!!! Pity all my other 1/6th stuff is boxed up (between places) or I'd have some fun mixing him up with other licences. He can travel anywhere, anywhen and on occasion between dimensions so it's not really a stretch.

Big thumbs up to TFAW for packaging and speed of delivery.
 
would be a really good time for BC to release or start a preorder for a accessory pack with the docs new outfit seen in the new eps.
 
TFAW have dropped the price to $119. Luckily they have that 3-in-1 guarantee so I just got a refund of $30 from my purchase 3 weeks back. I'm really surprised how cheap this one is now going for from them.
 
I finally got around to picking one of these up and am really impressed. The sculpt is dead on and the quality is really nice. Can't wait to see how tom turns out. Too bad I didn't find out about 10 until it was too late =(
 
What is going to be interesting is how the future releases will effect this release. I love mine but there are nitpicks to it and looking at the upcoming Sherlock sculpts, I'm imagining that the next Smith will look even better. BCS has already said that another Eleven is coming in honor of the 50th Anniversary under that banner so I'm wondering if the first release will plummet in price. I'd like to get a couple of more in case they actually ever do release the accessory packs and variant sculpts (especially the stetson) so I can display multiple looks.
 
I'm a fan of Matt's Doctor, so I jumped on getting one of these as soon as it came out. If they do release a 2.0 version of sorts, I'll get one of those too.
I would love to get a chance at getting a Tennant as well if they make him available again.
 
I am glad to hear his price is still going down. My Matt Smith just took a nose dive and his leg peg snapped in half right at the upper leg! I have heard complaints these were fragile (the arm pegs slip out of the joints all the time) but how disappointing. This is the only 1:6 figure I have been able to buy in the last few years and he didn't even survive 7 months (and he didn't regenerate!). :monkey2
