No not in my case, I'm sick to death of all these new armors, give me a properly proportioned diecast figure of the original armor ( and best looking to date imo) from the first movie and that will be the perfect representation of Ironman in my collection, my collection is very varied and I don't like to collect too much from the one license.
I feel the exact same way, it has a great deal to do with the movie itself, that first scene where he takes flight in the painted up MIII and is chased by the jets ..just awesome!
I agree seeing the suit for the first time was just amazing! While I admittedly didn't read the comics all that much, I did watch the cartoon back in the 90s and I loved it so seeing the red and gold on screen was just a total nerd out moment

Mk III had the most screen time so far, and it simply had the coolest scenes,
like the one with the raptors and the hostage takers.

IMO and pocket consideration, I have decided not to get IM3 items at the moment. I just felt it is getting too pricey for the whole lot of Hot Toys. In fact, I just sold off a few of my IM figures. I guess I will prioritize the theme I want for now. Still, I am looking forward to the movie.

According to HT: Collectors have always been complaining that Iron Man figures from HT aren’t solid or heavy enough; so when HT received the green light to manufacture Iron Man 3 figures, we wanted to implement new design. After many research and development, we came out with this new series MMS Diecast Series, by using diecast material yet not compromising its pose ability.
Say good bye to ‘pink panties’
In order to make it [Iron], part of the components need to be compromised; there can’t be too many details when using die cast, for example helmet will be made of plastics. Die cast part will be used on arms and legs. The figure will be consist of 40% die cast hence it will weight around 1.5 kg; it will be one of the heavy weight figure. On the other hand, the usual ‘panty’ PVC part will be replaced by ABS, the ‘pink panties’ issue will be resolved.
The joint part will be even more realistic.
Would there be a problem since it is much heavier now? HT has modified part of the joints with ratchet mechanism, hence improvising the pose ability on diecast material. There more development on other parts: the chest and abdominal are comprised of 3 parts, allowing more movement; elbow consists of 3 joints, hence it could bend more than 90 degrees, all these development are to achieve more human realism. Whilst on head sculpt, despite Don Cheadle has approved it, JC. Hong is yet to be satisfied hence it is still under some modifications. Iron Man fans have to be more patient before the final head sculpt is being released.

Awwww man. That's one of the main parts I want to be diecast. That is pretty disappointing.

Personally, I like what I'm hearing in that release. Sounds like a good compromise between weight, durability and cost (really don't want a 100% die-cast $500.00 Iron Man for every new Mark). I'm very happy to hear about the switch to ABS for the codpiece, too. I ruled out buying a red/gold suit until that was no longer an issue, so glad to see it's resolved and that HT does listen.

I think the Play Imaginative one is like 85% die cast if I remember correctly

That doesn't make it better.. 40% diecast sounds good to me, 80% is way too much
I'm also a bit encouraged by what they say here personally. A completely die-cast figure would probably be clunky and more due to problems. Unfortunately, I'm not sure the $100+ increase in price is warranted considering that.
Diecast chips, rusts, doesn't mold with the same detail. The joints now require ratchet functions and some articulation will still be sacrificed. All cons.

How is it to much? You're paying $310 for it. Not even HALF the figure is metal. So basically still 60% plastic, $310 for no feature and nothing else.
80%>40% It's a Diecast figure. Not 60% Plastic still + A bonus of 40% metal.
I mean I get them not doing the whole thing metal but if they are planning on making this the next big thing, at least make it past 50% of metal and not 40%.
