Re: Hot Toys - MMS185 - The Avengers: Iron Man MK VII

Man I was just thinking about this and let's say it costs $500,000 to R&D, Manufacture, and Finish (paint etc) the run of Iron Man figures. That means that to break even they would need to sell 2000 units.

I'm sure they sell more than 2000 units but I'm also sure that it's costing them a lot more than $500,000. Based on what little layman's knowledge I have of the production process they could easily be spending a lot more than $500k on the tooling of molds alone.

You forget to add in Lic cost. They have to pay Marvel, RDJ, an Disney now. They are not going to take a cut of the % they are going to asking for $$$. If you where RDJ sure the 1st one you would be like sure, cheap but 10 (I think its now 10 (2 mk1, 2, mk4, 2, mk6) you would want $$$.

Re: Hot Toys - MMS185 - The Avengers: Iron Man MK VII

Speaking of… if they're going to do the light up features I'd really like if just once they would do the feet too. I know it's possible as they did it on the Mech Test parts. None of the full figures though have had it.

That is what I miss on my mk6 and wm. I like the light up boots. And stands.

Yup totally forgot. I've heard it can be a pretty significant chunk of the price in some cases. No real solid knowledge as that stuff is often seriously kept under wraps but it's certainly a notable factor.

You don't wanna regret it in the long run. I've done this :slap a couple times thinking about waiting.

Ya, What I did was buy and buy and save up my points. I was going to get the Granary and Mk4. They even had one for me. Turn out it sold out buy my item was still there. No using the points, etc. I just told them to sell it and order War Magor in its place. Glad I did but still feel SSC let me down.:exactly:

Re: Hot Toys - MMS185 - The Avengers: Iron Man MK VII

Ever since the NRD has become common I pretty much do not preorder unless I believe there's a real chance I will lose it.

In the case of this, or almost anything HT does these days, I have no fear there won't be enough to go around when they actually ship.

In fact, with HT's new philosophy, these are generally cheaper after a month or so on the market than they are at preorder.

Batman, Joker, Superman, Sparrow, Indy, Iron Man II, Classic Predator, Baby Doll, everything has dropped to a lowball price after a few months. I can't remember the last HT figure whose price ballooned immediately.

Sorry if this has been answered - but how come he has interchangeable leg armour that is silver and gold? I thought it was silver in the film.

You mean this?

That's what the thighs look like when the silver missile packs are removed.

Did we see just the gold thighs in the movie at some point? Always thought they were silver.

Also, what's a good flight stand for Iron Man figures?

Hmmm.. Tony Stark MKVII head + Agent Coulson suit [dyed black] + white shirt + tie = perfect suited Tony figure finally. :D

The interchangeable gold piece is how the legs looked after the missile pods where ejected from the legs.

Avengers MK VI

LT Gordon

But they are both very limited editions.

Re: Hot Toys - MMS185 - The Avengers: Iron Man MK VII

What's a good flight stand to use with Iron Man figures?

I use the one that came with the Mark V for my MK VI. The New Goblin one would work too. If you're asking for alternatives to these, I got nothing :(
