I actual think the likeness is fine. I will ask for the opinion of my geeky friend who thinks Chris Hemsworth is hot (I am all about Chris Evans myself).

looks great!!!
Looks like a giant detailed hasbro... With Urban/DiCaprio head :lol

I at least like the facial expression much better than the first Thor figure.

$200 USD gets you the figure, Mjolnir, 7 hands, and a fancy coffee maker...

Wow, that cape must be silk lined with gold then.

If I return that, can I get a refund? I already have a fancy coffee maker.

I dig it.

The Avengers has to have the silliest costumes since the Schumacher Batman films. I thought I was going to jump into this bandwagon, but no thanks.

haha! Exactly. When I finally got to see the pics, DiCaprio was the first thing that came to mind with the sculpt. Looks like the 'Dream Extractor' bootleg figure sculpt. Hair and outfit look great, but they need to keep working on the sculpt for sure.

Oh, digging the bulkier armed look too.

There's a lot of blatant BS being thrown around in here and I'd like people to keep it in perspective. To say it doesn't look at all like Hemsworth or that it's a perfect likeness of Dicaprio is kind of crazy. To say that some of the best sculpts HT has ever done are "garbage" is equally crazy and pretty rude.

Yes, there is room for improvement - but the extreme reactions only make you and this forum look bad.

Seriously? I thought the outfits looked superb, even Cap which, let's face it, was always gonna be a tricky conversion from comic to reality. the decision to base it mostly on the ultimates was a good call.

Would you prefer going the Lungren Punisher route, where the character makes no concession to the comic character at all?

:goodpost:

I am puzzled too by the furious reaction to a decent, but not perfect headsculpt. I put it beside a picture of Hemsworth and the main difference is the softness of his face in real life, rather than any specific details of the sculpt.

I think it could be the angle of the hs in the pics that is throwing it off, IMO it looks more like Hemsworth than the DX indiana Jones ever looked like Harrison Ford, and to anyone who says "it looks better in hand" well this might also.

My first reaction to $200 price tag? That's a bargain!

I guess I wasn't aware of exactly how far I've come (sank?) in this hobby (sport?).

Maybe something in between, but these costumes just look like they're made of plastic. I liked the movie though, not bashing it, just don't want any realistic figure/statue wearing these outfits in my collection.

Anyways, I think most extreme negative reactions are due more to the poor value this figure offers than to the sculpt not being dead on. $200 for 3 pairs of hands and 2 accessories is kind of tough to swallow.

I don't see Hemsworth in this at all. Sorry, but this just isn't him. I don't see DiCaprio either, but I don't think you can dismiss as 'blatant BS' the legitimate gripe that this HS doesn't look remotely like the actor it's supposedly representing.

Equally, if you're talking about the list of faces RIDDICK posted, Those are far from the best sculpts HT have ever done. I described them as trash and I stand by that - with one modification. A trash HT sculpt is still almost always better than anyone else's pass at the same subject. But if you compare Prince Dastan to, say, Jack Sparrow DX, Batsuit Begins Bruce Wayne or the Ledger Joker DX, to say it's trash is far from crazy.

Extreme reactions just demonstrate that we are passionate and discerning about this hobby. Is that a bad thing?

I agree about the garbage comments being overblown but I truly do feel this particular sculpt resembles DiCaprio in the face at least as much if not moreso than it does Chris Hemsworth. Perhaps not a perfect DiCaprio likeness but closer to him than Chris.
