DX09 KEATON BATMAN: residue in abdominal area, has yours shown signs of it?

@ those talking about cost effectiveness for the magnet. They glue the suit closed guys. They can glue the magnet into the belt at the same time and let both sit to dry.

Belt: The reason HT didn't do this originally is that Cyanoacrylate glue (crazy glue/super glue) gives off a gas which leaves a white residue on dark surfaces. This fades over a short period of time (days). But it would mark the black rubber suit, unless they left it dry. HT does use Cyanoacrylate glue, but only in areas mostly obscured. Look at the gauntlets of some of the Batman releases and you will see the white powdery residue. Time is money, and sticky tape is faster.

Why? It's just a tiny dab behind the magnet. When I pressed the magnet in place, no glue seeped out. And I put the belt on almost immediately.

u just need to choose the right glue that's all. Seems like HT(also enterbay and medicom for that matter) do ways that confuse even themselves. In fact, if they wanted to be more efficient they could've just designed the belt to have clips so u can clip the magnets in place. But then thats almost nitpicking so dont mind me.

I'm contemplating calling Toys2 shortly to just go ahead and cancel this. I can't believe days away from probably receiving him finally and now Keaton Bats is gonna have to return to being a most wanted figure for me again.

Too big a risk until this, if ever, is rectified or Returns Batman.

I would agree. HT isn't using super glue on these figures so there would be no clouding.

Yeah, Cyanoacrylate is no joke. There's a reason forensics teams use it to expose otherwise invisible fingerprints... even the vapors will stick to stuff.

So i've contacted Wai Man at OSB (onesixthbruce) to cancel my order. Long story short, they have contacted their suppliers who claim that there have been 'no reports from anyone regarding leaking of oil on the 89 Batman.'

Therefore, not refunding my deposit... I have replied explaining that this was the same situation with the DX02 and the problem started showing up over time. Let's see how they respond.

Needless to say I will be very disappointed if I am not given a refund here.

They have done before mate. I have seen it on a few releases. Pred, Bats and a couple of others.

I agree Nam, it's just the fastest type of glue (this is all about time and money) would be a crazy glue, no setting time. I can't imagine even HT closing a belt with wet glue inside. Though I may be wrong about that!

Anyway, this conversation has nothing to do with residual rubber breakdown.

That's pretty ____ if you ask me. Why not give you your deposit back? it's not as if they are going to be left with unsold stock. Unless an oil scandal hits of course...

Boy did I speak way too soon....guess what just showed up at my door. Granted, I guess I can still return him, but I wanted to avoid seeing him first and getting too attached

Either I just call Toys2 and return to sender the sealed package or open him up to take my chances for oil....then still try and return if there is. Or fall too much in love with him, oil or no oil and keep him either way

I will report his fate later......

I got mine today and there's no oil, but i did put some black spandex material under the belt so its got a nice cushion just in case.

Add me to the list of people with no oil on their figure. The entire area's bone dry.

I'd recommend everyone that's freaking out and canceling their orders to just sit back and see how the situation develops before doing so. There's simply not enough information out there to warrant a cancellation. But if overreacting makes you feel better, by all means go right ahead.

At the end of the day (much as I hate that phrase) I want an 89 Batman. If it has to be a leaker thats a shame but I'm still going to own it. I personally would rather that than nothing. I may be bending over and taking penetration from HT but if you're going to make exception on anything surely its the 89 Batman. I apologise to the guys who wish everyone would stand and make a point by not buying.

As kind as your apology is, I don't think you should have to justify keeping something you want and like just because there may be a QC issue. Just the same as those having problems should be able to be unhappy if they want. Thats totally each individuals call. I have one that is not leaking now, and LOVE IT. If it starts leaking, I'd try my best to deal with the leak. But thats not going to stop me from still loving it.

And I can't imagine Rory or any one else with leaks will begrudge anyone still being happy with their 89 bats. Just like we feel bad for everyone having leakage issue.

Also, in case anyone wants to accuse me of not knowing how severe the oil issue on the DX02 was, remember I was the first person to report it here and dealt with a leaky figure for months before I finally got it to stop leaking after trying different methods on a daily basis, so I'm not just blindly defending HT here. I'm just saying that it's too early to go cancelling your orders out of fear.

Quite the opposite mate, I love this figure. It's been a grail to me. I have tried to be balanced and level headed about the whole thing. I actually ordered another body separately, I'm willing to see how things go, I guess a lot of people are freaking because this is exactly what happened with the DX02 only this time it seems to be happening (at least to some) a lot earlier.
