Well said.

What was this thread about again? :lol

:lol:lol:lol

_____ing and moaning.

:goodpost:

No kidding. Endless moaning about flipping. Its part of collecting. Deal with it.

:exactly:

Its so funny/interesting how this hobby has an almost predictable cycle when it comes to things like this. Someone should write a book or at least a thesis on the psychology of collecting and the human impact.

I had been discussing this with a few others and was trying to work out why the demand for this seems to be so much higher than the official Mark IV and VI.

Somebody care to fill me in on this?

I think this whole discussion is tricky because there are such shades of gray. Different people find different behaviors acceptable to themselves, and no one thinks they are amoral or immoral for doing it. Some probably think it is never OK to charge more than you paid (or retail) when re-selling. Some seem to think it's OK to pay market value so long as you didn't buy it with the intention to "flip." Some think it's OK to flip, so long as you play within the rules set up by retailers. Some think it's OK to buy and flip as many as you can, Sideshow's (or Hasbro's, or whomever's) rules be damned.

Like some others have said, everyone has to decide what is right for themselves, and look themselves in the mirror. For some, issues concerning buying and selling collectibles may be a key moral issue that defines their sense of identity. Others may not worry about or consider it at all for whatever reason. Flipping happens, but collectors who don't want to fall victim to it have to be vigilant and learn to pro-actively take actions to best ensure they don't have to pay more down the road. That's about all I can say on the issue.

I do think it's a bit silly though to go around claiming there is any "exploitation" involved in this process (unless you are referring to the underpaid, overworked laborers who probably produce these things in the first place). These are collectibles, which people can take or leave, and no one is putting a gun to a buyer's head and forcing him or her to do so.

Yeah but that is different then buying 3 Special Edition Mark IV's against the Sideshow policy and then selling them for profit. Especially after getting 3 and bragging about it on the forum when there are people who didn't get any. That is just being a complete ____.

Like Adoptedscot said previously--some people get their jollies by posting things in order to provoke a response. Just like flipping, that's just gonna happen. Best to ignore that stuff when it happens if it bothers you and to avoid reinforcing their behavior by responding and talking about it, IMO.

First off you don't even know me my friend so do not throw stones at me. I am a very "Moral" person but...maybe not by your exact definition but I consider myself much better than most people in terms of how I live my life and interact with others. I do not rob people, sell drugs, break the law, murder, rape women, steal, cheat on my wife, abuse kids, drink or do drugs( not that i consider them bad in moderation)....I earn an honest living, pay my taxes, help others, besides my family and friends ( i have a few friends who I have loaned money to and will never see again...talking a few grand here)...for you to call me a non moral person because I flip figures from time to time is freaking crazy. Its laughable at best friend. The times I have purchased and sold for more ive not ONCE had one person disatified, felt like they were cheated...most of them were super happy to be able to get a product that is rare for a price that is relative to how the market sets it. I did not feel superior to them or got some sort of rush out of doing it....I got lucky getting the figure SO WHAT!

Point is, I wanted a guardian last year and didn't get one. In fact, I still do not own one. I did not cry or complain one bit about people flooding sideshow to buy and resale. They got lucky and I didn't, just how life goes. Good for them for making a little money on the side by clicking a button.

You did not pay attention to what I said and how I said it. I said that your VIEWS SEEMED very AMORAL to me. I did not say that you were immoral. As I said, first of all, immoral is not amoral, and second, I didn't say you, I said your views, so please do not misinterpret what I said as a personal insult. Even the things you have said here could be largely defined as amoral. There are specific acts that people do which are immoral, but it is impossible for any human to be totally immoral.
Again, I was not insulting you, I was merely assessing the overall moral alignment of the views you stated and said that your views SEEMED amoral.
As far as "you feeling superior to them", that is how I defined immoral, and since I did not even refer to your views as immoral, much less you personally, I do not see how that is relevant.

I was just looking at the production pics again. Never noticed the slight "battle damaged" look to this on the armor. Subtle, but I like it.

Did the original Mark IV have this?

^^ Yes, the Mark IV had some very subtle wear evident on the armor. A nice touch IMO, showing that it had been used a bit.

Very cool. Yeah, I didn't even notice it before, but I like it a lot. The detail that HTs puts into these pieces never ceases to amaze me.

Wait til they raise the numbers after people complain, then wait for the Asian toyfairs to flood the market with tons of these..... then put it up.

I don't see this GMG piece being any different than the last. Especially since it what a lot feel is the best body design of the Iron Man figures.

Yeah, I liked that myself and they did that on the busts. It just gives the armor a little something.
