And the Reich Minister of Public Enlightenment and Propoganda has spoken.:D

That might have a lot to do with the fact that we were stupid kids back then. I like to believe that my preferences are more refined, now.

What's changed except the fact that we're paying $120+ for Joe figures? Same stupid kids, same stupid toys, different store. :dunno

Actually I don't think it looks that bad at all. At least he looks like classic Zartan and that's a win in my book.

I dont like the set up, the characters look well done

:lecture:lecture:lecture I don't like the "either-or" set-up either. It's like you either have to choose displaying them both from the front, loosing most of the detail in each character or pick a character and then rotate it periodically to see both. At that point, pick up both 12" and a plastic tree, save $75 and go to town!

If your tastes are more refined than why bother collecting GI Joe at all?

Because I am not so narrow-minded that I can not accept a different interpretation of the outward design of the character. The...ummm...character of the character is what defines them to me. For example...if a writer changed Zartan's personality to a kind, caring, daycare volunteer, that would not be Zartan to me. However, if someone simply changed the outfit that the character is wearing, it can still be Zartan to me. I don't become a different person just because I change my cloths and, to me, neither does the fictional character. Sideshow's interpretations of these characters has appealed to me so far dispite the fact that they are not exactly as I would design them.

Zartan's outfit is the least of the line's "impracticalities."

Moot point as we may have differing opinions on this issue. I have never really broken down the figures from 25+ years ago to determine what is impractical and what is not.

That's pretty much what DDP did. Zartan was just some ****** who took over leadership of the Dreadnoks from the real Zartan in the origins story. So any nod to that direction would mean as much.

So when you prefer one look over another its "refined taste." When someone prefers a different look its "narrow mindedness." Interesting. Part of Zartan's personality is that he likes to show off his abs. To give him extra body armor is Devils Due fan fic lameness IMO. On the other hand, Beach Head's unmasked head is an update that's both badass and totally in line with a nutjob who brings a crossbow to a gunfight.

If they go Devil's due look I don't think its lame at all. I find CC look which we got really cool looking and if they can match that with Zartan that works as a decent option. Yet, its lame because you think so? Interesting.

Ok, so what is wrong with the dio Zartan? It looks just like the original. If we get the figure that looks exactly like that it, would be fantastic .........and surprising.

Devil's Due/IDW=Star Wars EU

I wouldn't go that far. Lucas keeps such a tight reign on his property that it wasn't bastardized like DDP did to the Joes.

No, it's lame because it'll remind us of the DDP Zartan which was pretty much an abortion of the Hasbro version and making a version resembling the DDP one would be a nod to it.

That's what's got me stumped as well. I'll be 100% happy if he comes out looking like the regular dio, so I'm confused as to what they were talking about in the Q&A.

The CC SS put out looks good, until put next to the 82/83 version and then it might as well fall off the shelf.
