Re: DC Direct 1:6?

I just checked this out earlier today & I must say, I almost cried tears of joy!:monkey2

you know its funny......so many collectors bash DCD yet secretly collect it. so many rake DCD over the coals yet still fill their shopping carts with the product and create gallery after gallery. I have every last one of these gems & as far as I can tell, will continue to buy them.

DCD is not with out their faults but in no way deserve the bashing so many dish out.

Who "secretly" collects it?!?! :huh

These were talked about on a regular basis around here before DCD got the perposterous notion that their figures were worth 2X what they were previously selling em for.

I still buy and I'll support the line by cherry picking it as I always have and I think there lies the problem. I have not read about many collectors who buy this line as a completist and I'm sure that makes sales hard to anticipate. Not to mention the absurd price increase and you have more folks looking to just get essentials.

There are only a few more I would like to see made in this line...maybe Dr. Fate, Hawkman/woman, Firestorm, Booster Gold and maybe Blue Beetle and John Stewart GL. Other than that, they would have to knock my socks off for me to get many outside of that list.

Re: DC Direct 1:6?

Oh Snap!!! just when I thought I got out, they drag me back in!! KC Superman, Alan Scott GL and now this awesome looking Ross Batman. This looks even better than the the statue. I see they lengthened the leather cape. Cool! I always thought the original was too short when being posed. the only thing I want to know is whether the boots are molded rubber. It sure looks like it and I am afraid it would severely limit movement if the rubber is too thick. I don't think the modification refers to the changes on mid-muscle articulation more to the face sculpt but who knows.
DCD - you just need to change that stupid bicep cut articulation. That's the worst cut of all. Just ONE change. Do it and see the sales increase like crazy.

The boots on this one are sculpted pieces. Also the modified body is thicker through the chest, neck, and back to better replicate Alex's figure anatomy in his paintings.

who you ask? there are boards beyond this one you know. but it applies here to.

Re: DC Direct 1:6?

The biggest barrier to me owning more of this line is price. I think these are nice figures but they are not worth retail - at least the older released, Alex Ross Supes and Bats look like they might be.

you know jedi....for now I'll disagree with the price point debate on this line. I'm still able to cop my 13" DCD for under $70 shipped & thats a fair price.

BUT......you guy are right about the steady price increase thats been going on. the MSRP on these has been shooting up over $120.00. & for that kind of cash i want Hot Toy quality. & lets face it.....i may love my DCD but they don't hold a candle to HT.

I think about $65-$70 would be about right for this line personally.

Re: DC Direct 1:6?

Pretty good looking Bats... the Superman they showed a few months ago is pretty kickass.

And for what its worth, the V for Vendetta figure is pretty cool with a few upgrades.

Realistically that is what you'll pay if you wait it out. Even on release eBay averages those prices for DCD 1:6, the only ones who pay full retail are the ones who head to their LCS to get them since in reality most shoppers go to the cheapest etailer. KC Supes will be able to be had around $75 and so with Justice Bats, no worries. I haven't paid full price on a DCD 1:6 ever, hell I got the Watchmen for $50 each at the month of release.

Re: DC Direct 1:6?

I agree, I haven't paid full price on these since Sinestro. Although for these 3 I'll pay the 83.00 that CSC is asking for, just in case it is a limited run. I don't want to miss out on these.

Re: DC Direct 1:6?

Sinestro's bringing around $30 on eBay these days... I actually need one for the body. Wonder how well he'd swap over to a TT since he's on the slim-yet tall body.

Re: DC Direct 1:6?

I passed on the KC Supes and I'll pass on the Bats too.

I am looking to streamline and there are just two more that have been released that I am going after right now...Wonder Woman and AS Green Lantern(has he been released yet?)

Just picked up Jay Garrett Flash today actually for $50 bucks on the bay.:banana

Alan Scott GL comes out September 8th.

Re: DC Direct 1:6?

I wouldn't mind him, Hell part of me wants Robin Earth 2. Speaking of prices I just nabbed a Barry Allen Flash for $30 shipped. Definitely not worried about MSRP...

speaking of Kick Ass, its a shame the property is not DC. I loved the movie with a passion & would have loved if DCD could have done a 1:6 figs for the whole line. But It would have required a whole new Buck for poor Hit Girl. As many know I'm a big defender of DCD & insist that they don't have scale issues, but even I would cry foul if they tried to crank out a HG using Bat Girl's body.

& whats this about V, you think he need improving? Don't get me wrong, there ALWAYS room for improvment in the action figure game. But IMO V was with out doubt one of the best figs DCD 1:6 put out. very on point with the advertised fig.

Body is a bit too tall and the articulation is not good (particularly the wrists and shoulders). Also its not a very natural looking/posing basebody. So that was swapped over to a TrueType.

The boots are terrible... some of the worst I've seen on a 1/6 figure, so I swapped them out for some leather-like ones.

That was all, took a decent figure and made it into a great looking one.

Re: DC Direct 1:6?

Just scored a Sinestro (MIB) for $16.39 on eBay... so under $27 with shipping :lol

Gonna use the body for a custom figure and see if I can maybe make a smaller Sinestro using the rest of the pieces.

Re: DC Direct 1:6?

If I could get a DCD GL Corps figure for cheap I'd get one of those and Sinestro to kitbash a GL Sin, I've seen it done and with good results but its too expensive to take on with the GL Corps pricing still a bit high.

Re: DC Direct 1:6?

That's not a bad idea... I just wish this was in the classic costume.

I figure I might be able to swap him onto a TTL/TT/etc. Body and get a slightly more normal looking figure.

The headsculpt is awesome looking and he has a nice selection of hands to choose from.
