I do recall them saying after the Radiers PF that other PFs were planned but I don't recall them specifically stating they'd be ToD.

If I get some time I can try and track down which Q&A it was that they specifically said ToD Premium Format Figures.

Sideshow might as well make Shorty. They've got the body that's just being wasted now that LOTR is out of the picture.

At $90 a pop for figures, I'm going to be pretty picky about what characters I buy. I have absolutely no interest in KOTCS figures and LC is not far behind. Save for Henry Sr., seems my interest stops with ToD.

And I think herein lies the problem Sideshow faces with secondary characters. Collectors' interests are all over the board across the four films when it comes to what characters they'd want to see made. I think Sideshow will have a hard time finding a character beyond Mola Ram that everyone seems to be on board with and will be a good sell. Cherry picking what figures to make may not be the best option for Sideshow at this point and they won't go all out...so the line may end sooner than we all hoped it would.

You're right. The Indy movies have a different appeal than say Star Wars or GI Joe. The Indy characters are interesting and appeal to all of us in very different ways than those other lines. Most of us here can appreciate and drool over the cool accessories or character and costume design for those fantasy-rich movies and toys. With Indy, the character designs are more grounded in reality and probably appeal to us in a more internal and personal manner. One may feel more personally attached to the Monkey Man than the Cairo Swordsman, but not because one's costume is cooler than the other, but because their personalities struck each of us differently. So it's a tricky choice for Sideshow to pick characters when they all affected us in a more fundamental way than just their design and gear. I see with Toht, Belloq and Henry they had to sweeten the deal with the exclusives and their swag. So yeah, they know those secondary characters are a tough sell all around.

TOD Indy does have one thing going for it IMO, the hat. I always loved the way his hat fits him in TOD, a little larger and sitting lower towards his brow.

Hmm... different strokes I suppose.

I think the ToD is only version of the hat I would say is actually bad. And it's actually smaller, not larger than the RotLA stovepipe. Because of all the internal changes with material and blocking at HJ, I think they ended up with an inferior product.

Not a good look, imo.


Ranking the hats I'd go with:

KOTCS - love that Adventurebuilt
RotLA - The turn is so distinctive and gives it so much character
TLC
ToD

I see them doing Mola Ram (and i'm actually thinking they could include an interesting TOD exclusive). And I can see them doing a TOD (end of movie) Indy.

As far as KOTCS, the only figure I would probably buy to go with old Indy would be Spalko (better yet if she comes with an alien throne exclusive). I also see them possibly making a Mutt figure.

Other than that I think this line is circling the end even though i would get a TOD short Round, ROTLA Marion, ROTLA Sallah, LC Elsa, LC knight without hesitation. Unfortunately I may be in the minority here.

If Mola is offered soon, I'd say that's it. Line done.

The fact that the grail tablet is coming with Henry Sr. is an indication to me that we won't see an LC Indy. And I can't imagine Sideshow making any other LC character. And if Sideshow says that Marion is not on the table, then making Spalko doesn't make sense to me. I'd rather see Marion first than any other female character.

I did go back and read some of the Q&As and in one, they talk about the PF poll. While Sallah wasn't included in the poll, Sideshow indicates that he would be looked at further down the line after other characters have been released. So who knows what they are planning. Sideshow tends to say one thing and then do something else.

In looking through the 300 pg new catalog, 30 of which towards the back are for 1:6, I was reminded how far Sideshow has moved past the 12" figures. I'm surprised we've gotten as many Indy figs as we have.

The only outside chance that Spalko has -- and I agree its unlikely -- but her outfit does lend itself to 1/6th AND she may have been a "request" by LFL and far enough down the pipeline as to become a reality. Doubtful, yes... but let's just say I wouldn't be surprised.

Again, I'm thinking Mola is going to be the final figure. The Gandalf to the IJ line.

All this "end of the line" talk is depressing!

Pre-ordering Indy last March is what got me started in this hobby. At that point I was ecstatic that someone was making a very high-end Jones action figure. I was planning on only getting that figure and call it a day. The fact that we have gotten six figures for the Indy line is all gravy to me. It's easy for me now that I am knee-deep in this hobby to want more more more. But if I take a step back, I see Indy is still my favorite figure and character. Since he is already here and done, ultimately I'm satisfied.

I do want this line to continue, but I realize it's not as deep a line as SW so I know the end is imminent. There are just so many characters in the Indy-verse.

What happened with the LOTR line is a travesty. I mean really! They were 3 figures away from finishing! When it comes down to it, the Indy movies aren't really ensembles (CS pushed it though)--Indy IS the central figure and we got him.

Quite true.... My issue is this: I really only collect a.)Star Wars b.)Indy c.)Superheroes.... Though Predator is one of my all time favorites I had stayed away, which was easy since I've never even seen AVPs and had no real interest in Pred 2. Once the Original stuff came out I gave in over time and picked him up, so now he clashes with my other figures... I also have Snake-Eyes coming now, so two outliers...
