I'm feeling complete indifference, I'm not like oh it sucks, but I'm not excited, I don't know what to make of this, some of it was cringy, the plane thing feels too mission impossible, not Terminator style action.

Well shoot, I've been finding myself with growing excitement for this film especially after Alita but based on the trailer I think it looks incredibly generic. And I don't mind CG Terminators but these films were built on practical vehicle stunts and the two CG cargo planes were more reminiscent of Genisys than Cameron's first two flicks.

The entire trailer had a Genisys vibe actually.

So it's a watered-down Terminator film with a female Marcus Wright and liquid Endo found in Genisys. The trailer does not look promising. To my surprise, the female Marcus looks pretty cool as a character but we've seen that human hybrid stunt told before. Linda's acting looks a bit wooden too. So far, it's looking like a bust. I really wish they would have made it simple - regular Endo with a horror-type of sci-fi without all the Fast and the Furious/Mission Impossible stunt scenes.

Yep agreed on the odd song choice and good call on the "Fast and Furious" style action. Very hard to take such footage seriously.

I still remember seeing the T2 trailer for the first time and being absolutely blown away by the semi busting through the wall into the canal and the police motorcycle flying out the window.

This just looked like Genysis meets Hobbs and Shaw but with Salvation's boring desert setting.

Maybe Cameron really was telling the truth when he said that Genisys was a "straight 10."

I would have hoped that this film might have drawn Brad Fiedel out of retirement. It just doesn't have that Terminator spark at all.

Watching it again I will say this, I really like the look of the cast.

Linda and Arnold look great, the female hybrid character has a cool vibe and the black endo looks freaking awesome. I'm also fascinated by the idea of the liquid metal reforming apart from the endoskeleton and what the logistics of all that entails.

I tend to be a pretty easy sell with these movies since I enjoyed Genysis but I'm still hoping that the bones of this movie are more solid than what the trailer suggests.

That looks absolutely atrocious.

Looks like Agents of Shield meets Fast Furious.

Mission Impossible should not be insulted being compared to this.

The weightless flips.

The hammer strike sending the bad Terminator flipping like he’s a break dancer.

The cgi closeups yikes.

Sarah Connor now a Terminator herself with zero fear facing a new T-1000 knowing very well what they’re capable of.

Yes she will regret coming back to this.

Unfortunately, I think later sequels establish that Terminator is a franchise of the 80s and early 90s, and doesn't fit well with the film styles of the late 90s and beyond. Action and slasher/horror/thriller films of the 80s and early 90s were of a different caliber. Today's movie styles don't suit a lot of stories that came out of those decades, and no one is willing or able to make a movie that is like that period to have it fit the source. Credit where credit is due, Stallone had the guts to do Expendables and deliver 80s style action, granted most of the starts were older and that was probably a factor in their mediocre success, but he knew what needed to be done to tell a story akin to the movies of those decades and did it. I think failure of such films is why no one gambles on doing it, but then the decision should be, move on, come up with some fresh and fitting for the current time because you're just dragging classic characters through the mud. The last theatrical showing of Sarah Connor was T2 and a hell of a lasting memory, this could do to her what Rocky 5 did to that character. Go out on a high note.

Look it could potentially be the best of all the movies post T2 i’m not ready to declare it DOA it’s already got my money but fearless Terminator Sarah didn’t sit well with me nor did the Matrix wire work and it looked like a made for TV movie at times.

I agree it needed A24 aesthetics.

Hopefully that odd song and F&F editing was simply a 2019 marketing tool and the film itself will feel far different. Yes I'm being ridiculously hopeful after three failed Terminator sequels, lol.
