job

Well... I had two jobs in Belgium... worked in an office and as a waitress in a nightclub... then I went on vacation to the Dominican Republic and met my boss and his daughter. I quit my job and 4 months later I packed two suitcases and I left everyone and everything in Belgium and moved to the US.

So for the last 6 years I have been working for Rainbow Of New England Swing set Company. I actually do everything... am the accountant, secretary, sales person, I do payroll, taxes... well all the work goes through my hands. But I just tell people I am the secretary ;) And for the last two years I got 2% of the business and that will be like that for another 3 years so I will own 10% after 5 years. Which is a nice little extra. I really love my job... it is great to meet all the families and their kids.

Sell Sideshow stuff! lol! Perhaps a bit of background might be better..
Hugh, 35 last week, Queenstown, NZ. Worked in tourism here for about 10 yrs then saw the opportunity to get out on my own and become self-employed (got sick of making money for everyone else!). Thought it was about time NZ got more quality Movie stuff into the country. Also do some web design.

broad range in occupations here! very cool read

31yr old graphic designer/artist. Currently working for a tradeshow display company and enjoy every minute of it. I do a lot of design work here and also frequently model clients' booths in 3d so they can see a realistic render of what they want to purchase, with their company graphics on it, before they actually shell out the money for the booth.

I also do a small amount of freelance work, but not a lot by choice. Right now Im living fairly comfortably and enjoy having my spare time not packed with freelance work (cause I enjoy my hobbies). Just enough to keep me entertained. LazyEyeStudios

also getting married Oct29. and its putting a dent in my collecting funds!

Hi Everyone,

Wow, great thread. I run a full time computer company which caters to Corporate accounts. We sell and service PC's, Networks, etc. I actually do about 50 different things from consulting to taking out the trash. LOL. I also sell collectibles on the side which is slowly turning into full time as well.

Thanks,
Mike

howdy,

i'm a project engineer/lead at NASA Johnson Space Center in Houston, TX. I've got a background in offshore/coastal engineering, but decided on space exploration instead of oil exploration. Basically, some of the stuff that astronauts use inside the international space station and the space shuttle, i help certify and design. every now and then, we do mission support and listen to 20 different conversations at the same time. it's an awesome job, stressful, but it's one of the best out there.

i love to collect figures, and have now seen the light that is Sideshow. It's so cool to be here with everyone, and it's like one of those moments where ya find your niche. It got tiring explaining to the non-collectors at work that i'm not alone, etc... and then they saw what stuff i had and it was like... ooOOoo. now, i'm here with "my people". heh. :)

Hi,

I'm doing a major in Economical psychology with a minor in work & organisational psychology. At the moment I don't have a side-job, because this last part of my studies requires me to work full time and often even catch up with some exams during weekends so I can't commit myself on a regular basis. I do however work as a volunteer in my scarce spare time. I've done all kinds of volunteer jobs like organising summer events for children and for students, but lately I work as a stagehand in a music hall that has three separate stages for resp. 75, 200 and 2000 visitors. It's neat because I get to see all kinds of acts and the funniest things happen backstage.

I'm an aspiring Artist who make his money working in a Dermatologist office doing staff work. I mostly check in patients and file charts, taking care of insurance and HIPPA law stuff from time to time. I really want to work in comics or film if I can ever manage it, but for now I am just honing my craft and trying new mediums. I haven't started customizing figures yet, but since being here I've grown interested in the artistry behind it.

that's pretty much it, I used to be an aircraft mechanic / Painter in the Navy. I was stationed in Japan with VF-154 The Black Knights, an F-14 squadron. We were deployed aboard the USS Kitty Hawk and went to Iraq for a time. I've been all over Asia, had a blast, met celebrities (Jackie Chan!!), got drunk... it was great. Makes what I do now look pretty boring by comparison....:D

Hey, can't remember if I've posted in this thread before!

I'm currently (March 3 2006) a student in my 2nd last month of a 3 year college program for technical studies (the program name is called Computer Programmer Analyst ).

I've had employment in the summers, but in the study periods I've been too consumed with studies to maintain a job.

During the summers I've done what I love to do very much- yard maintenance. I like manual, physical labour, outdoors in the summer. It's a great place to work (in nature!) blah blah blah. It pays very poorly, but to be outside in the sunshine for 10 hours a day, cutting lawns, racing your buddies on ride-on lawnmowers over large fields and cutting fun patterns, chasing squirrels and ducking swifts that fly around your head, crashing your boss's truck into another truck (oh crap shouldn't have mentioned that)... it's such a rewarding experience for a period of time in life.

Before college, I had a job that kept me happy but tired... midnight shift in a nice factory with a very limited midnight staff (so people were more relaxed). My financial situation would be a lot more happy if I was still there... I wouldn't have the student and SSW debt. But people keep reminding me that after this college is up, I hopefully will notice a difference in pay. Hopefully....

After college, I am aiming to get a job in one of three locations: Peterborough, Cobourg, or the Greater Toronto Area. These three cities are in Ontario, Canada.

One other place may be in Newfoundland, or I may head arbitrarily NORTH to the Yukon or NorthWest Territories or Alaska or Nunavit. Companies there pay boatloads of money. But that depends on my family (note: MY .. not my parent's) family situation. A friend of mine just got married recently and he AND his wife have moved to Yellowknife I think it was. It's the capitol of the NW Territory. I wouldn't mind going to Alert, for the experience.

Or I may just head to the USA or out of north america entirely.

All this in the name of either a job in my field (make my education worth its investment) or in another specific field that I'm personally interested in.

Then I'll hopefully have enough to afford a nice ssw cave troll giveaway or something. heh Wouldn't that be nice?

The only thing a really do now is invest in real estate around the U.S. I'm thinking about opening a real estate/mortgage brokerage in the next couple of years, but am not sure yet. In the meantime, I enjoy writing and have been working on some fiction lately.

Are you referring to Mo Naked Hoes, Inc.? I didn't know you were the previous owner of that one...

Seriously, retired at 30?!? Hard for me to wrap my brain around that... Sounds like you are keeping yourself busy, though!

You can now own your own franchise of Mo Naked Hoes, Inc.:D

Yes, as funny as it sounds, I am in semi-retirement (I don't think I could ever just do nothing). Last year was good and bad. After a 1/2 year of being sick and misdiagnosed, I finally got to a decent Doctor who figured out I had a treatable, but problematic heart condition. Needless to say, it occupied a lot of time which should have gone to my business. In contrast, under very fortunate circumstances, the silver lining of the year arrived with a very reasonable and lucrative offer for a buy-out of my lines. I accepted and officially dissolved my corporation in Dec. Although real estate isn't my passion, it's a great game to play in LA. In turn, I'll ride this wave for a while and see where it takes me. In the meantime, I just keep the wheels turning.....Never know when lightning is going to strike!!!!

Sorry to hear that.

Materials/Purchasing/Warehouse Manager for a small but insanely busy company called Audio Toys Inc. We make high end audio mixing equipment and such. We are one of the leaders in the Professional Audio industry, despite me being in management.
