Why would they want to alienate PT fans? They are an established fan base who will likely watch this movie.

OT fans who deny the existence of the PT may still watch this movie and they won't be bothered by Ewan being cast as Obi-wan and will likely just accept it like they accept Smits in RO.

He's Obi Wan. If we're lucky we'll get a Ewan Obi Wan with a little CGI at the end to bring back sir Alec.

Ewan is the basis for all canon comics and the clone wars.

Silly to think he won't be reprising role. And I hope they do something really dark where he leaves tattooine for a short mission like ten years before episode 4
