Yep, big difference. The AvP one is IMHO still just about the best. These might help you out, but be warned, it seems I was lucky with mt ALIENS warrior, other than a few loose joints mine is still in one piece-

So far, the best HT alien seems to be the AVP aliens. (Reg, Grid, and Brown exclusive)

I first ordered a Grid Alien on amazon.com but had a email order confirmation from the seller (gohastings) that the description is "Alien Warrior Alt Brown version" I'm thinking they will send me a ALIENS Brown Alien Warrior instead of a AVP Brown Alien or a Grid Alien which I wanted. SS, it's more accurate to the source material. (apart from the 4 fingers on the forelimbs)

Stupid puppet only needed 3.

Definately the SS Queen.

just realized NECA is 18" scale... or 22" tall...

Does anyone have the 1/6 McFarlane one? (not the grid alien, the other one) Is it any good?

It's a nice representation, but the articulation sucks a bit. It's also a bit small for 1/6 if that is what you're looking for.

hmm... so my options are medium quality sorta small, medium quality super huge, high quality super expensive sorta small, or high quality super expensive kinda big/ maybe right size...

(that's the McFarlane, NECA, Medicom, Hot Toys, respectively)

Well, I wouldn't call the NECA or McF "medium-quality", for their prices they are fantastic figures. The McF one comes with a very nice base and three face-huggers and is very sturdy. The NECA one is HUGE and is (along with the Medicom figure) the most accurate you can get.
The McF one can still be had for under 40 I think, as well as the NECA, and for that price you just can't go wrong, especially with the NECA figure, it's really great.
The Medicom can be found for under 150 if you look around and the HT is 135 right now in most places.

It's just a matter of taste and how much you want or can spend right now.
