Saw it last night. Entertaining but not very memorable. My least favorite character was Dastan. Someone else with more charisma should have played him. Gyllenhal just wasn't cut for this role.

I thought this was entertaining enough up until one of the worst endings ever.
As a Disney fan it was worth it for all the scenes that seem to be lifted directly from Aladdin. My wife and I were quietly singing Howard Ashman songs along with the appropriate scenes.

Saw it yesterday - it's not just mindless fun - there's some interesting characters and themes and the performances are all pretty good. I think Gemma Artherton is going to be a big star. I was kind of glad that didn't just slap a PotC template over the game and try to recapture the Pirate magic, but it does show how much that franchise owes to Depp and the character of Jack Sparrow. There wasn't really a since of fun in PoP, everyone takes it so very seriously and any time they tried to insert some whimsy, such as with Alfred Molina's character, it seemed forced and out of place.

As for the ending - I thought it was appropriate and certainly set up well. And it makes sequels far easier.

Overall I don't regret seeing the film, it's was an okay entertainment and pretty to look at. But I doubt we will be seeing a sequel to it because it's not going to capture the hearts and minds like a good franchise should.

I just got back from seeing it and I enjoyed it. I'll give it a 7. I had a little bit of a problem with the way the action was directed, looked a bit hectic and hard to follow at times, but overall it was entertaining.

I liked the movie too and I agree about the action, the sequences were nice but could have been directed better.

I saw this today. Not bad, not bad. As a fan of the game series, I think they did a good job giving respect to the source material while making it fun for the uninitiated movie goer crowd. Nothing embarrasing about the whole experience, which is a refreshing when it comes to viewing video game movies.

A lot of people compare this film with PotC, if only because Jerry Bruckheimer produced both and that the films share a genre, but aside from that the movie franchises have very little in common, so I found it odd when my friends said "good, but not as good as Pirates". irrevelent, but my friend is right. At least when it comes to the first PotC film. Say what you want, but the sequels blew.

So, I give Prince of Persia a 7/10. Fun, but I'll probably forget about much of it in months.

p.s. I will buy that Hot Toys Dastan though.

I don't think you can get away from the Pirates comparison - not just Bruckheimer, but Disney, and it's based on non-traditional source material, and it's a costume fantasy adventure swashbuckler.

Fair enough, but unfortunate that there's a world of action/adventure films that PoP shares more of a spiritual connection with than PotC that most young movie goers don't really remember or those still feeling the excitement over the PotC franchise don't put in the effort to remember. Or maybe swords + magic really does equal PotC nowadays to most people.

Saw it last night... it was just OK...
Molina is the best character...
I liked how they took "some" elements from the game, but it felt a bit soulless IMO... great effects, and visuals, fun, but not great... above average.

My wife and I saw it over the weekend... LOVED IT. I thought it was really well done, really well acted, and a really great story. Hope to see a sequel.

I saw the movie this afternoon and I definitely enjoyed it! I rated it a 7.5/10.
I think the action was great, the squabling between Dastan and Tamina was fun and the story was actually better and deeper than I imagined.
