I'm curious too. I wonder?

If no one else knows ill be reporting back on my findings tomorrow as it is really niggling me as I can see where her hair is meant to be painted and it isn't.

I was able to use a fine point black marker to fix mispaints on a vinyl/plastic thing i have but this is different. I also know it won't be the same red as her hair exactly but she has a mix of shades in there, I don't think it will be a major issue if the red of the marker is just another different shade.

Since I really don't know what I'm doing when it comes to painting these things, I wonder how something like a sharpie ultra fine permanent marker in red would go over the areas where her hair wasn't painted.

Test on a discrete area first. I was going to tidy up some black lines but the finish was completely different.

Yeah, was going to find somewhere that I could just put a small dot. Maybe even on the teeth of the plants as they've got red bleeding into them already. Also if it does work ok I might get myself a green one to fix some of the leaves around her stomach as well.
Paint markers would be a better idea.

Did think of that, but I can't find any that are fine tipped.

I'm not sure it's even a mistake. Seems like natural variation in the shading.

Unless I can't see what you're talking about (the pic is kinda blurry) I'd say your statue is fine.

I also thought it was shading at first. But, compared to the rest of the leaves it kinda stands out.

Here's 2 more (hopefully not as blurry) pics.

:hi5:

I don't think it looks bad. Obviously, it's your call, but I think you're fortunate if that's the worst of it.

Man, I hope she shows up here tomorrow.

Oooo, ouch. The edges of the leaves as they meet her skin are not fully painted. On a piece this expensive, a crying shame. Sloppy. its easily fixed but a PITA nonetheless. People should not have to do touchups on an almost $400 statue. *frown*

Oh now I see, thanks for pointing it out. Hell if mine came unbroken or scratch I would just keep it. Only because I know if I get another it will be broken.

We shouldn't have to shop our manufacturing out to China either, but that's kinda how it is so long as Americans are economic half-wits and our politicians are redistributive thieves. Business is a black sheep in this country, and so it goes.

Whose fault is it, really? :dunno

:goodpost: yes this I agree with! :exactly:

In a perfect world I would have to agree with you. Unfortunately for all of us, we don't. That being said, we'll have to deal with it. Deal with it or don't buy the products. I chose to buy and I'm 98% satisfied with the outcome. I can deal with the "sloppy" 2% myself so it isn't a huge deal.

As for the leaves meeting her skin not being fully painted. You can't really tell when you view her from normal viewing distance. It's when people take close up photos or view her under a microscope is when she starts to look really "sloppy". Unless it's a major mess up ie: "boogers" or a "bloody nose", etc. now that's unforgivable.

In the end, I'm happy with my purchase and hope others are as well. Enjoy your Ivys everyone! :rock

Hi guys I received Ivy today she looks great but unfortunately has a few flaws. I want to know if you guys think it's worth contacting SS for a replacement?

1st photo:Nothing wrong, I just really love this statue.

2nd photo: Doesn't fit in her base properly and it leaves a gap under her shoe and on bottom of the plant.

3th Photo:The base has a green paint smudge.

4th Photo:Has a really ugly bump on her thigh, just next to the leaf.

Can you post a picture of the full statue maybe a foot or so away? That may give a better perspective for thoughts as to whether or not you should touch up the leaf in the bra area. Honestly, unless it really bothers you, I can't see how you'd notice it from far away. Again, maybe it'll show more in a full size picture of the statue from a natural viewing distance, but I'd be weary about making it look worse than it does -- which I honestly don't think it does at the moment.

Again, that may change with a full size picture! But it looks like you got a great one! :)

The foot going into the base may need a bit of maneuvering; however, it doesn't look distractingly off. If that was the only issue, I'd say don't worry about it. Same with the minor bit of green on the base...that's easy enough to ignore if the statue was perfect. That said, the bubble on the leg looks like something got caught in their during the paint job. That would bother me to no end, especially with it being in the front. It seems small, and the picture does blow it up, but I can tell looking at mine with how smooth that area is that I'd very likely call them up had that happened.

What do you think?

Flashes are ruthlessly revealing of any imperfections ...and every statue has some. But yeah, I can see it standing out in normal light from an average distance. Should be a relatively easy fix/mod. Just try to color match the dark spots not the lighter highlights.

The red hair where it meets the skin is going to be a much trickier fix. If anyone is going to attempt it, make sure you let gravity work for you- tilt her so her feet are in the air and if you have the red paint drip or run on you it runs down into hair and not over the flesh. I will probably give mine a shot, but not for a while- until the novelty and sting of the purchase price has dulled.

My enthusiasm for this has waxed and waned quite a bit since the initial pre-order. For the last month especially, all my focus has been on the Galactus Maquette and Wolverine LSF. Ivy was feeling more like a duty purchase so as not to waste the NRD. Even peoples pics in the last week, as good as they have been, hadn't fully swayed me.
But now that she's in hand, all the qualities that made her such a no-brainer pre-order are shining through.
I have issues with it sitting flush in the base (may have to take a dremel to the post hole to fix this) otherwise everything else is excellent- much better than I was expecting. Paints apps are stellar for all the tricky areas (save the one hair edge) and the eyes are- for the first time on a SS piece for me- amazingly spot on.

Can tell already that along with The Prize, this will be one of the last pieces I get rid of. ES looked huge when the numbers first came out, but this won't last long. The longer I look at it, the better it gets.

I tried a few times to maneuver her into the base, I took her out and tried to place her in a different way but it's no use, she wont go in any further.

As for the bump on her leg, it bothers me so much because that's the first thing u notice when looking at her legs. It sticks out quite a bit so that makes it kinda noticeable. What makes it worse is that it is on the front of the statue, I could probably deal with it is it was on her back somewhere.

I mean, it's one of those things that when you know it's there, your eyes just tend to focus directly on that spot. lol Well, at least it's in the center of her bra and not awkwardly only on one side. :lol
