Woo-hoo! I finally get to destroy something. My Vader head had a tusk broken off and scuffing on the outside of the helmet, so they're sending me a replacement. :banana

If your replacement is acceptable, please remove your damaged head from the figure body then destroy this part only per the instructions below and provide photos within 5 days of receipt of your replacement. If we do not receive your photos in this time, you may be charged for the extra piece.

got mine this morning. Just incredible. Consider me another VERY happy customer. Well done Sideshow!!!

It's just amazing as it is... but me being me... I'm going to lower the dome (slightly) and tilt it back. I'm going to lower the head itself slightly closer to the shoudlers, to get rid of the gap between the neck piece and the shoulder armour. (I know it gives better articulation, but it's all about the looks for me), I'm going to smooth the shape between his chest and his stomach.... so the chest box sits straighter (it sticks out further at the top than the bottom, more than it should)

and........ well, thats about it.

oh wait, I'm going to add the widows peak at the front of the dome. Thers a few scratches on the dome so it would need replacing/repainting anyway. I was considering extending the flare at the back, but after comparing it to screencaps... its the right size. (it might be slightly too thin when viewed from the front... but the side profile is exactly right... it just needs tilting back slightly and lowering)

so those things will give me something to do...... whenever... i get some spare time :lol

I love this figure!!! :rock :rock :rock

I definitely want to see this when you're done. A tutorial would be nice too.:D

Agreed! Glad you're digging it Darren. I love mine. Can't stop looking at it. Unlike some, I'm personally fine with it the way it is, but with your suggestions for these 'slight' modifications, it could only make it better! :rock

Let me know how you do that Darren, that bugs me too.

I allowed myself to finish a bit early tonight (well I was at my desk at 7am this morning lol) so I did some work on Vader. Damn this is a nice piece... is just feels so... chunky.. in hand. I love it.

Unfortunately I didn't take any photos during the process (sorry guys, I didn't even think!) Anyway I did what I said i was going to do.

I dremelled down his chest, and padded up his waist.

I put foam padding under the shoulder armour to lift it slightly, to close the gap between the armour and the helmet-neck. ( I was going to lower the head initially.. but this turned out to be way more work that I wanted to do, and luckily... doing it this way has actually maintained better proportions)

I cut/sanded his arms thinner under his armpits, to let his arms fall closer to his sides. Sadly this only made a small amount of difference due to the thick folds of the undersuit. I should have cut more away... but it's fine.

I took the helmet off, shaved down the supporting 'spines' that run around the plug that goes into the hole on the top of his head. I did this until it could sit at the right height, however then when I tilted it back, it stuck too far out at the front. So i had to do more cutting and shaping of the hole itself making it bigger... and various parts of his head & helmet. Eventually it would sit right, and I glued it. (only temporary... as I want to make the widow's peak.. but that's another day. This looks good enough for now)

With all these done, even when the head is straight (not tilted back) the dome goes back to the shoulders, and the gap under his neck has gone too. (slightly less articulation... but only slightly. And I'm happier with it like this)

Anyway.... pics. As I've got to go downstairs now and figure out what I'm cooking for Jane :lol (just had a text, she's on her way home from work lol I'm a good house husband )

Nicely done as always... would you mind taking some shots of the mods (especially the inside of the dome) when you are able to?

well its already back in the box for now (no room to display until i get my new studio cleared/decorated) but when I get around to taking the helmet off to do the widow's peak I'll try to remember to take some pics...although theres not much to see. I was playing it by ear... so there's no 'instructions' really.

Don't forget guys, this fella has a double jointed neck.. so pull his head forward that helps with his posture (making him have that natural forward neck that we all have - including david prowse) also it helps a little with the back of the dome and the shoulders

Thanks for the tip. I am too much of a coward to take dremel tools to my figures. I am afraid I will destroy them.
