Those heads look significantly different than the prototype Gorilla head pictured in the previous photo.

Yeah agree. I wonder what type of apes those two will be. Its certainly from the classics line. My guess are the generic soldiers/captains due to the previous pics of the guns they released a while back. Probs testing the water to see how many soldiers/captains we will splash out on. Haha need to find some horses at this scale. Anyone have any ideas?

I'm looking forward on getting the new movie figures. I was thinking of getting the ones made by HIYA, but don't know if its worth it.

I won't argue initial cost of the Medicoms. I bought them from a local comic shop type store, toy shows, and eBay in the early 2000's. They were imported items and those were the prices people sold them for. It's not like you could just got to TRU and pay a flat retail price for them. Nova was the most expensive one I paid for at $50. I think Taylor, Cornelius, Zira, and Zaius were cheaper but still expensive relative to toys of that scale. I didn't expand it past those five until I found them for cheaper prices years later. I had them carded but took them out ages ago. I like most toys better out of their packaging.

McFarlane Sleepy Hollow Headless Horseman. It would need some mods if you want it screen accurate but it got the job done for my Batman Begins without them. It's the only thing in this scale that comes close that I know of.

The Hiya ones arent that bad, just not enough in the line. I have both the Caesar and Koba ones. Dont expect them to look exactly like the promo shots though, but articulations are ok.

Thanks, do you think they are worth it or should I just wait for NECA? I know Hiya is a Chinese company, so the ones on eBay from Chinese seller shouldn't be a knock off right?

Hmm, Im a ape fan, so i will say its worth it to me. Not sure what you looking for in the Hiya ones though. Theres not many reviews out there for this one, but the ones I found a while back mentioned that they had paint flaking off easily. So far, that didnt happen to mine. Tell you what, I'll post some close up pics on here tomorrow for you and let you decide if you think they are worthy in your collection. Im sure the NECA ones will be great and they will be cheaper than the Hiya ones. Plus NECA are going deep with this line, classics and the new ones. If you still want the Hiya ones, I believe BBTS still have the Koba one for sale. Chances are these wont be knock offs since they are made in china just like you said.

Not POTA related, but another worthy addition is the SH Monsters King Kong. That is one of my fav figures.

Awesome thanks! Yeah I saw Koba still in stock at BBTS and Caesar on eBay for $27 shipped from china but the seller always puts one for bid starting at $19.99 too. Looking forward to you pictures. Oh the paint flaking issue you read was the ones purchased from US distributors or straight from China? I just want a nice looking ROTPOTA figures to hold me up until NECA releases them.

Hey darkknight, as promised. heres a couple of pictures of the Hiya chimps. Sorry for the bad quality, taken with the phone. One day I need to get myself a good camera. haha but too many cool figures coming out to spend on one. Im not sure which batch has the flaking issues, but honestly they are all from china, so its hit and miss i suppose. Something i forgot to mention and only just remembered while taking them out for some photo shots, is that these figures look good when standing up, but very tricky to get them in a bending over/crouch stance to look/feel natural. When you are able to get them to bend over, their heads are facing down towards the ground. You cant get them to look forward or upwards. haha stiff neck i suppose. If I had to choose one out of the two, I think I prefer Koba, somehow he just has a better stance and one hell of a menacing face.

Cool! I really appreciate it. They look pretty good, I actually just won Caesar on eBay for $21.50 shipped from the china seller and will get Koba from BBTS. Any pictures with them with other figures for comparison?

Had to get them incase NECA takes forever to release ROTPOTA figures.

Hahaha cool, congrats. Hope you get them soon with good quality as well. I'll post some comparision shots tomorrow when I get the chance. Neca did mention they will get the new apes released just before or around the time the movie is released, followed by the classic apes shortly after. I guess you must be that eager. :) I believe Randy (Neca) mentioned on twitter that he may have some tease photos for the classic apes this coming monday.

Haha, yup I love the movie. I asked the seller if they could pick out a nice figure with nice paint application. Here's hoping.

Cool, I hope the only thing the seller dont give you are the ones where you can see paint smudge on the inside of the clear pastic front cover. Hate it when the paints arent dried and the figure goes right in the package. ANyhows, heres some pictures for your viewing and comparision. I tried to stand the Hiya ones up straight to give it a fair comparision. I like the scale, Koba is slightly shorter than Caesar.

Thanks! They look good, yeah hope the seller at least read my request. Thanks for the pictures!

I'm liking what I see... although I see a bit more Dr. Maximus than Dr. Zaius.

I'm sure he will look better once we see better shots of him.

As for him standing erect, I'm hoping that with NECA's improved articulation, that an "ape-like" slouch could be achieved.

I thought the picture on the NECA Facebook page was just a picture of the Dawn of the Planet of the Apes. Upon closer examination, I think it is actually a picture of their impending Caesar figure.

A bit slow on the uptake, but I get there eventually.

And I too have a reason to look forward to Mondays.

Yeah, thats the teaser from last week. Neca also release a video clip showcasing glances of the full figure as well. You checked that out yet?
