Hey guys, quick question. I’m thinking of having the SS Luke X-Wing helmet repainted to match the helmet Rey has on Jakku.

Should I use the Sideshow helmet or, since repaints in this hobby are expensive, wait to see if/when HT does an X-wing helmet in case that’s better structurally. (Asked this in the TFA Rey thread too).

While I do think HT will get around to pilot Luke(s) -- at their present pace I wouldn't hold my breath. If you have the means, go for it. To my eyes there's nothing wrong with the shape of the SSC helmet. It's a little too clean and symmetrical compared to the actual prop, but HT's will be the same -- I imagine it will be similar to the blast-shield helmet that comes with their ANH Luke.

Yeah its more the paint than the sculpt that bugs me about the SSC x-wing helmets. The Snowspeeder Luke helmet has much more accurate color and weathering, but the emblems are still too small and wrongly placed (there are variations in the onscreen Luke helmet, including a version where the emblems are more reddish than maroon, but all have larger emblems than the SSC helmets have.)

There is a waterslide decal set available. I used a similar set from this seller when I did my Blue Leader.

These are the decals I use. I've done quite a few Rey repaints, if needed contact me. But I'm in France, and shipping to you can cost a lot.

I suppose so.

You still need to repaint the helmet and weather it, but these sets do "help".

Thanks for the heads-up, Chakaman. I ended up ordering several of the helmet decal sets.

Unfortunately, I only have one spare SS X-wing helmet and it's for my custom Porkins.
