Just came back from a special 3D screening.

Best movie I have seen this year and better than the first movie in every way.

This sequel is more SW than ever and I am super glad that JJ Abrams is the new man behind the next SW movie. He will do it more justice than Lucas ever will.

I will totally watch it again. The 3D is very well done but it gives me headache and I will never watch a 3D screening again. (I only went for this cause it was free and I get to watch it one week earlier than others here).

John Harrison is Kahn and well I guess everyone saw that coming from miles away but the reveal scene is fantastically done. the Sherlock dude is a fantastic actor and so convincing in the role.

In the Next Generation prisoners were always being held behind an invisible force field stasis field when crew members would talk to them. I'm sure this even happened prior to Silence of the Lambs. And showing antagonists in prison must go back to the early days of movies. How many westerns had such a scene? So no, Dark Knight doesn't deserve the credit.

Yes, but there was a complete franchise reboot between Batman '89 and TDK, which made them independent productions.

The JJ Trek Universe is SUPPOSED to be the SAME universe universe, up until the time the Narada showed up and disrupted the timelines.

Ummm...ok, that's fine, but EVERY other character in this "same universe" is being played by a different actor than the originals. It's not a reboot huh? Interesting. I guess I'm not familiar with the technicalities of what constitutes a reboot. I'm pretty sure the majority of moviegoers consider Abrams' Trek a reboot and not a continuation of the "same universe universe". As far as Kahn goes, the character is awesome. Why not use him? Sure Mantalban's performance was iconic. But I still think they can use the character of an augmented super-human from the 90's, have him played by a different actor, and call him Khan. Who's to say that the butterfly effect in this timeline didn't somehow change which child the parents decided to name Khan. Or maybe the mother married a different guy and had always planned on naming her son Khan. I mean the possibilities, if you wanna talk technicalities, are endless.

It isn't a straight reboot. Most people's beef is simple. Kirk is still white, Uhura is black, Sulu is asian, Spock is Vulcan, Khan was played by a mexican and is now a very refined british man. They went from shopping Benicio Del Toro and when they couldn't lock him down they just started going for anyone with acting chops. Could be worse but you're going to see alot of complaints about this just as your seeing IM3 Mandarin complaints. Khan is another arch nemisis and people won't like him messed with. Especially when the reasoning behind it seems to be a legit spanish actor's scheduling conflict.

It's actually a plothole. Why is it an event that occured in the timeline after Khan would have been born (Nero's time travel) somehow changed his race? If Spock was already born a Vulcan and can still exist in the future as Nimoy than somethings wrong here. It's like if I time traveled and had an affair with someones mom after theyre born, that doesn't affect the way they look.

They should have tackled Garry Mitchell first when they couldn't lock down Del Toro. Mitchell could have served the same exact purposes as Cumberbatch in this movie without changing the race of the character and further more properly setting up this story.
