Those wanting a new lease on life for their DVD collections should look into Toshiba's new XD-E 500 upconverting player which is getting rave reviews for it's ability to make DVD's look nearly as good as Blu-Ray. I plan to pick up one and try it out in the near future.

I have read some reviews on this from AV sites and they state that it's not even close to blu ray like toshiba promises. They state that it's a good upconvert for the price but that there are better ones out there.
But hey if it is great let me know. Even though I have a Blu ray player, I still have tons of DVDs I don't ever plan on upgrading to Blu.

Got the KOTCS BR Exclusive at Target. The only gripe is that the case for it is the size of a standard DVD case. That may shy some purchasers away, but considering that the regular BR edition didn't come with any sort of special case or packaging, I went with the Target one (for $3 less, as well 
).

Got my best buy exclusive today. I love the crystal skull it comes with. For those of you wondering, it's not actually attached to the base. It's balancing on a peg, but it feels pretty stable. But since it can be removed and looks to be about 1/4 scale, it will go great with your Indy PFs when they get here. I couldn't find the gift card at first. It was kinda hidden underneath the bubble, but I saw it eventually. This brings me up to $100 so far that I have ready for spooktacular. I'll have even more when my readiness kit gets here.

Am I crazy for buying this? It was truly a dissapointment, but it did have its moments. It could have been ALOT better, but I am still a hardcore Indy fan, and the original RAIDERS is my favorite movie of all time. I picked up the Target BD to complete the collection, and for the special features, even though I KNOW a special edition BD collection is inevitable. Am I going insane?
Or will my contribution to buying this show Lucas/Spielberg that there is a market for Indy on blu?

This guy at HTF seemed said it was the best upconverter he's had and that it's a great player. Some of the "professional" reviews seem to be too analytical sometimes for my taste. I'm just looking for a little more sharpness to be honest. My Sony upconverter does an excellent job as is. From 10 or 12 feet away, images look like Blu-Ray on my Panny plasma.
I'll try the player out. If I don't feel it's that big an improvement, I will likely just wait for the next model or for a Blu-Ray player around $150.
But Indy! I picked up the Best Buy giftset as well as the FYE steelbook. Both of which are very cool. The Target exclusive set looks very nice as well.

I went to Best Buy almost right at 10 am, and they were already almost gone! 
Only $25 this time around, but still I am sure I will find something. And yes, the skull will be great with the PF. Still only like the first half of the film though.

Whats the measurement of the skull from front to back? Looks pretty nice though...I bought the light up keychain skulls...but they are not here yet so I am wondering if they are close in size...think I am gonna go pick me up the Best Buy gift set in a couple minutes...gonna use my $3 coupon from papa john's....
