Hey, if there were a few headsculpts in there i would kill for them!.

I worked on this movie, the images of the custom figures make me come over all fuzzy and warm.

That's awesome work there(is that yours)Rorywan. :rock

Hmmm..now if we just had someone on this forum who worked
on the film and was secretly able to make an accurate 1/6 Dragon :D:D:D:lol

The Quinn head should be here this week. It looks pretty good.
I'll post more pics when I get it.

The Van Zan head should be even better. We got a top of line
sculptor working on that. I hired him 5 months ago but he
can't start on it until July(yeah, he is that much in demand).

I always thought ROF got the short end of the stick in the
merchandizing & collectable department. It's the kind of film
that grows on you, so I took it on myself to try to do it
and it's characters some justice.

I hope I did. :bow

Thats amazing, I havent seen the movie in so long I can't say anything about accuracy but the fit and weathering is perfect! The rifle in particular looks awesome too.

Tempting I say! :) Looking forward to the HS!

Thanks for the comments.

Well here's some movie stills I used to make Quinn. Hard to
get some really clear close up shots of the outfit, but I have
a ton of small pictures of different parts of it, plus I can zoom in
on any of the pictures I have to get better looks at the smaller details.
These pictures below show a good shot of the rifle, leather shoulder
patch work, smeg & full body shot of the outfit I am going for.

I still need to do some minor fixes and after that's done, it's going
to be damn skippy close to film accurate...lol

The last picture is funny, you can see the real pilot still in the heli..:lol
Opps, there's a slip up.

Also Van Zan appears to have a joint on his left elbow!

That IS accuracy :lol

*edit* I only point this out because for the sake of accuracy it should be an easy fix, but Van Zan is only wearing one glove...

Both Quinn and Van Zan are looking really great. Can't wait to see more updates.
Nice job on both!

Yeah, when I get the EVO body in May, they come with a few sets
of matching hands, so Van Zan will get a gloveless right hand. I just
didn't have any matching for him, so I left the fingerless glove on the
right hand.

I have noticed that in some parts of the film Van Zan does have elbow
wraps, so I could get away with those and cover the elbow joints.

I agree. Every once in a while I get a craving to watch it. And once or twice I have just put it in to watch Van Zan kick the crap out of Quinn. I am very hetero, but when Van Zan whips his shirt of and starts putting the beat down, I have some serious man love! :rock

Can't wait to see these figures complete. :)

I watched that being filmed, matthew mcconaughey was in the Van Zan character for the entire shoot. He went running shirtless for miles across the mountains every morning just before shooting, he was like a mad man. Such a pity the end movie was butchered. The script was originally much darker and better. Parents killing their children because of starvation, charcoaled bodies everywhere, the dragons feeding on the ash. A lot of it was actually shot, but 9/11 happened and the darker elements were taken out. Everyone on the job really took it seriously, pity, still a nice oddity though and I agree Van Zan is a killer character. He is much better on screen than the cheesy character in the script which is a credit to mcconaughey. Maybe we will see a directors cut someday.

Never knew about any of that before. I thought the movie was alright but its a shame when something has the chance to be great and gets crushed.

I wonder though, could it be that Mcconaughey isnt really the bad actor we all consider him to be? Maybe if he was offered more roles like this things could be different. He really seems to have gone the extra mile for this guy, which I seriously doubt he did for 'hot guy x' in whatever sh** he's currently in with Kate Hudson or whatever her name is...

I still believe Mathew would make a great captain america...much better than the Chris "human torch" Evans...but that's over now :(
Back to the thread, Van Zan is a great character and Matthew showed that he can act if it's given him the oportunity...
And i would like to see a ROF bad ass director's cut either :monkey5

I don't know if you've seen this, but someone has done a head sculpt of this character recently. They're in 1/4 scale, but since he seems to be into the movie, he'd probably be into doing this...

That's pretty cool. Still hope to get on the 1/6 version.

I really want to see this again now!

Not as badly as I want to see the finished Quinn though...

Alfred is a great sculptor, each one he does he gets better and better, itd be awesome if you could get him to sculpt the head in 1/6.

I get choked up every time Quinn has the kids say the prayer about keeping their eyes on the sky. :monkey2

It really is a great movie despite any script changes... and I think it's plenty dark. :dunno
