I don't know if you've seen this, but someone has done a head sculpt of this character recently. They're in 1/4 scale, but since he seems to be into the movie, he'd probably be into doing this...

No offense to Alfred...

But I have a great artist working on this already.
The Artist is at the top of his game right now. Every sculpt
I've seen from him in the last 12 months has just gotten
better and better. So the excitement level is high. :D

We'll do an official annoucement on the Van Zan head when I start
getting pictures of the work in progress.

I really want to see this again now!
Not as badly as I want to see the finished Quinn though...

See it again! It seems to get better every time.
Next is bluray for me! :lecture

I get choked up every time Quinn has the kids say the prayer about keeping their eyes on the sky. :monkey2

It really is a great movie despite any script changes... and I think it's plenty dark. :dunno

Who knows, maybe Bowman will get off his ass and demand
a ROF Directors cut. Some directors don't have the balls to stick
to there visions while others will no matter what.

Like this guy..Mathieu Kassovitz, Who spoke out to the media
telling people to not go see his movie Babylon AD. Because
the studio forced them to edit the film from 142 mins and a NC-17
rating, down to 90 minutes and a PG-13. He told everyone
that the studio destroyed the whole premise of the movie and
he wanted no part of it. Now that's balls..:lol It's unfortunate
that we'll most likely never see that 142 min version.
I myself always like the see the directors original version make it to the screen.

The figures will be much better.
Being a post-apocalypticphile I've tried to love this movie.
These figures are going to be 10x cooler than the movie ever was. IKE's doing some great work with these.

Thanks RJ. I'm trying...:D

They shot a fantastic funeral pyre sequence (a la return of the jedi) for Van Zans death. Stuff like that would have really added to the overall epic tone. Don't think Rob Bowman has any power to get a DC released. Doubt he actually had much power when it came to the edit. And since Electra he has moved back to TV. Nice guy though.

I know Bowman couldn't officially do anything.
But often is the case that someone may have a "Directors Cut" of the film as their personal copy.
** Cough ** Bowman ** Cough ** :D

So maybe if it somehow just got accidently released on-line,
that it would pick up enough interest to where the studio would consider
doing an official DC release. I mean once it's in the can and
just gathering dust, if there is any reason
for a studio to make more money off it, they normally will. :rotfl

:banana Go Capitalism :banana

Holy crap, I just saw this on the Triad forum.
Those are some killer chest plates. Now I'm even more stoked for
my Van Zan figure release using the EVO bodies.

Maybe I'll make some more Quinns too.

:woohoo

These chest plates & arms look awesome and will work very
well for our Van Zan & Quinn figures and take the tatts nicely.
The EVO will really showcase Van Zan if you want him shirtless...:yess:

Bad@$$!!! :rock

That has Van Zan's name all over it! :rock

Yeah, the muscle torso on the left is almost spot on for Van Zan. Add matching arms, tatts and the sculpt that Daniel Choe is
doing for me....well lets just say, the excitement level is high. It's going to be hard to wait until late July to get the sculpt.
But Daniel is at the top of his game right now. So I think it will be something special and worth the wait.

That's right people, I let it out...Daniel Choe is doing Van Zan Portriat for our figure and it's going to...:rock:rock

:yess:

:gah: :gah: :gah:

Dang it, Drew just updated me on the Triad forum. The muscle
body is for a figure release and most likely won't be sold on it's own.

The EVO still has 2 chest plates though. One is a little bit more
muscular than the basic chest plate...so I guess that will have to do.

Hey, look who I finished today...:hi5:

I think this is the final on him. I wasn't happy with the
resin hair, so I added mohair. Though the mohair is a little
big in the back & on top in some spots,
so I might remove it and dremel down the
resin hair some more. It looks okay, but from some angles it
bugs me...on the flip side, from other angles, he's scary real
looking.....what do you think?

Sorry about the below average pictures, I took them quickly at my computer desk. :slap

It looks great but being honest I'm not 100% sold on the hair, maybe moulded would work better? Up to you though...

Sorry I hate sounding like I'm putting down someones work...just in my honest opinion it would look better...

Looks good. I don't know about using styling product on the hair but I think the main problem other than being a bit big is that the hair is sitting very straigh, whereas the photos show that its isn't straight at all.

Still interested in this figure when you get them finished

Well, it had molded resin hair on it at first and it just doesn't work for the
curly bangs. So it's got to be mohair. Just have to dremel
down and shape the head underneath more then it will sit correctly.

To get the curly bangs, you normally have to use a little gel and roll the hair b/t your fingers. It's just going to take
some time to get it right. That will also take care of of it looking to straight, after it's styled a bit more.

But you know me, this is just the first pass, I will most likely
re-do it several times before I'm satisfied. :)

I did get an email from the guy who did the original Quinn. Said can make the resin hair better and
is going to try. Said he had been working on a few new Bale sculpts anyways. So he's going to
make the beard & hair more like Quinns and get back to me when he's done. I gave him a bunch
of pictures and told him there will most likely be a lot of interest in the Quinn sculpt as well.
So once it's done, he will most likely make up a bunch. So if anyone wants one, keep an eye on
this post from more info and updates.

I also removed the mohair from this one and really grinded down the head.
I'm going to try some lighter colored mohair that's a little bit more wavey.
I think it should turn out a lot better. I'll keep you posted.

:duff

Well, not really that type of metro sexual / gay hair color...:lol

I was thinking more multiple shades of darker manly-man browns.
:rotfl:rotfl:rotfl

Okay, Quinn has been redone, now he doesn't look like Gene Simmons anymore..:lol

I dremeled the head down, replaced the hair with a mixed brown hair
and used gel to give it that unwashed look. It's much closer to Quinn and
I like it much better. Here's some pictures....I think he's just about finished.

That's a big improvement but the hair is still straight. Not sure how you might get it to curl/wave though. :dunno

Also, the gel is giving the hair a bit of a "Something About Mary" look. :horror

Ewww. that's just the light reflecting off the gel...it's not white..:lol

It's hard to get the curly look. I tired rolling the hair b/t my fingers
with a little gel, but it's not staying that way. I think I need some
super hold gel, so the curl doesn't come out. Still I had to cut the back
so short to make it look the right shape, that it's never going
to have a curl back there.

Here's Quinn's updated rifle.
I made it even more film accurate with the slightly shorter barrel than I had on there before and round sight at the end.
