I contacted 2 more really good artists on doing the head for me. Each
seem interested, but both are booked until June or July. They are a little more expensive
than Erick, so that will put cost of the figure up another $25. I made it official
and had one so far put me on their schedule. So that means I decided to give another sculptor
a chance in lue of selling just the set ups.

I have about $110 cost in each figure setup anyways, so I don't think anyone wants to put out $130 or so for just
the body, clothes and weapons. If you do, let me know, I might still sell the prototype without a head.

Also, I'm not going to give out the sculptors names yet, until I have pictures of the actual head in progress.
We all know what happened last time..:lol

Once I have the head finalized, I will also make that available for sale via a sales thread.

But don't expect to see anything until mid to late June unless the artist has a cancelation.

That is the only way we'll see something sooner.

Great Jack Nicholson line....but it sums up how I feel...:gun

While I'm waiting for the Van Zan Head to be done......

I've been working on a custom stand for a special figure(you'll see what I mean).

First I took a Hot Toys DX Joker stand with the LED's, took it apart and removed
the main plate on the stand. I Dremeled the Dark Knight logo away gave it
a quick painting for a base color of brown & bronze. I then coated the top side
with spray adhesive and poured a fine sand(pool filter sand) over the plate.
I padded the sand gently and then dumped the remaining loose sand off. I did
2 coats of this and gave it a dusting of bronze paint and then some almond colored paint.
This gave the sand more depth. Here's how the plate looked.

Then I painted the remaining parts of the stand to match the almond color and sealed it.
The almond color is just like on the desert Humvee's

Put it together and you got one high quality stand with real sand base than won't blow away :D

I may do more to it, maybe some burnt brick wall behind it. Not sure yet, but it's a start.

I am having a custom name plate made with the following on it.
In bigger letters " Dragon Slayer" then below that "ROF CB - #001"
I know some of you asked about it, so, here it is
...a Quinn is coming before Van Zan :D

That reminds me, here's some final pictures of the outfit and weapons.
The figure in front is the prototype that the rest will be made like.

Can't wait to see this finished!

One of my favorite film characters of all time! :devil

Looks great, but i think the comedian body would fit better...just my 2 cents....but it's really good man!

Yes, or the Wolverine body would be awesome,
but both way to much to get for a figure release.
I don't think people want to pay an extra $70-80 just for
a body. I may make one with the wolverine body
for myself though...:D:D

have any idea of arm skins & tattoos?

Well for the 5 figures we're going to sell, I was going to use the
Triad EVO body, which has no upper arm articulation point, so the
tatts will work well and the EVO also has a muscle chest plate.
The sculpt won't be done until late July, so I'll have from late
May to July to test stencil the tatts on the EVO's arms and chest
plate and how they will look before hand.

cool...........for me they are as critical as the rest of the wardrobe that you have most certainly nailed to the wall of perfect. fingers crossed for the sculpt..............:banana

Yeah, it's going to be much easier because the arms and chest
plate are removable. So I'll be able to use my airbrush to spray the
basic tatt shape on, then I'll do more detail by hand.
That's how I did this jacket. First spray the stencil on, then touch
up by hand.

Since the head won't be finished for Van Zan until late July, I decided to finish
the Quinn figure I've been working on. Here's everything but the sculpt, which was
being painted and is now on the way. Should have it late next week.
I wasn't going to show this stuff yet, but I've had a lot of request to see it.
So I figured, since it will be done next week, what the heck, here he is.

He's pretty close to film accurate. He's got the black military sweater with
the leather elbow and shoulder patch work. I used some black military style
pants and weather them brown. Also did his trench the same way. It started
black, but was weathered brown and I added the leather shoulder patch. Found
some modern short black military boots that are very close to the actual(still need to be weathered).
I did a walnut stain on the rifle with some leather accents(hand hold areas & butt have leather)
and did some rust and weathering on the bow.

Take a look and let me know what you think of Quinn so far. Still need to do
some minor touch up work, but for the most part he is finished. I will still be
darkening up the leather shoulder patch and the buttons of the trench. They
turned bright brown when I was weathering the coat. :D
