Nice! Looking forward to seeing the progress of this build. I’ve planned on doing the same so I’ll be taking some notes ;)

Uh oh. Looks like a few days worth of posts have disappeared, lol.
Not much progress, but I got the main guides added for the angled shape.
The part at the front will be cut open when I go back in to work tomorrow.
It?s looking nice and slender. Looks far better than the first attempt.

Thats awesome Username. Wish there were more small vehicles available from Hot Toys, I'd still get Rey's speeder if I could. I have a feeling the Patrol Speeder would be a pretty decent sell as well (eventually). I think down the road anyone who slept on these Troopers will regret it.

That looks effing cool. :clap

Thanks. I am hoping to get the thing done by next week, bar the greeblies, of course.

Yeah. I have two on order, just in case. Plus my custom dude i have on the speeder right now. And i am in the middle of sculpting a new helmet for him to be a sniper trooper.
Rey's speeder isn't that complicated, but it would likely have to be vacformed. And i doubt there would be sufficient demand for it. There doesn't seem to be a huge fanbase for the ST as is, and if you add in what a 1/6 vehicle could cost(Even bare bones), that fanbase would dwindle even further.

Got the rest of the side panels added today at work.
When they are all set up I can get it all sanded and get the seat area finished and get the main panels made.
Pics with the previous build to show how much thinner this is compared to the first mockup.

Coming along very nicely. True 1/6 is pretty huge: 2 ft 3in x 9in (not sure of the width), but that?s just going off of the actual 13ft 6in x 4ft 6in dimensions from the Solo Official Guide book. The smaller scale works great visually and as a space saver :)

Edit: I guess theres still don?t bugs in the server move...we can?t use apostrophes or quoteations. They all turn to question marks

I thought that was just on taptalk. It's here on desktop too? I guess if they're straight apostrophes they're okay -- which is how it renders on my desktop.

It?s funny you say small scale, because this is still massive, lol.
The shape is all done and from now on in, it?s just going to be details.
I haven?t added weathering, but I have finished sculpting a new helmet for my Trooper. It?s just meant to be a generic Sci-Fi soldier helmet but I think it could work as an enhanced optics system for a sniper(Or someone piloting a fast Speeder).
Here are some images and a small turnaround video of the Speeder as it is before I get the main panelling done.

Did you have any issues of the panels loosening when sanding them back ? I guess they would bow a bit due to being hollow.

Yeah I was surprised after rescaling the speeders dimensions. Here?s a shot of the vehicle they used for the film... it?s much bigger than I expected.

Scaling it down some would make it more collector/shelf friendly
Very cool character design Username 👍🏽

Thanks.
I did a quick ?speed gun? for him today at work. Just a quick job. It?s not painted yet. I?ll paint it tomorrow.

Hah that?s badass!

Thanks!

Cool. What did you make the handle from ? Solid plastic ?

I cut the shape from a piece of 2mm styrene. Then glued that to three more pieces. After ten minutes I dremelled the shape and contoured it a bit. Then added some flat panel cutouts and some wave option parts.

Small snag.
I only just realised I have put the ?greeblie gap? too high.
The gap should sit with the upper line below the line of the seat. And mine is in line with it.
I know that no-one else would care. But it will look wrong when I get the main panels on.
So I worked on widening the gap and fairing the upper part back in.

I have marked on the hull where the gap should be:

And then cut out what needs removed.

I faired in the lower part.

And built up small panels to hold the new upper part.

I would always have regretted not fixing it at this stage.

All done. Took me all day at work to rectify the error.
I also skinned the base with sandpaper(For a road-like texture), and painted it up with some lines. I will start looking for suitable greeblies at work tomorrow.

You can kind of see where I had to re-skin the hull but that will all be covered up when the hull receives its panels.
