I think that how the first batch turned out is more apparent. I'm guessing this new production material may not have taken the paint the same as past figures and it wasn't spotted until the production run was shipping to customers.

Hmmm.. is it posiible that THAT was the issue: New material, trial and error for paint apps?

That's my guess. While HT isn't flawless, the paint app issue with John seemed uncharacteristic. Resulting from a new material used on the head would make sense why things went wrong, and how the production run got all the way to shipping without anyone noticing the problem.

Finally some news! I have been waiting very patiently for this. I am very excited. I liked the "crappy" paint job and now this one? Fabulous! Bale or Beckham, close enough. Looks like a real person and that's what I dig about this hobby the most. I have all these little people standing on my mantle. Awesome!

I'll argue it because I think Andy B's sculpt while off in some spots is still better overall. I'd even go so far as to say that although a bit skinny Erick Sosa's Connor sculpt is better than this one as well.

I agree, but I meant mass produced.

I'm excited to see this new PVC material in hand, it might be a way of preserving detail from the protos. It is strange though they look so different from the proto head...we'll have to wait till we get them in hand. I'm definitely excited because these look really terrific.

Why the hell does the custom sculpt have the "flavor-saver" hair on the bottom lip meet with the ends of the moustache!? Coupled with the weird open mouth/lips it looks like an unkempt vagina.

Hope this really signals an end to that awful skin-like translucent (glowing) material. The texturing with the new material looks so much better.

In hand, the first headsculpt isn't as bad as the above picture suggests - so the new headsculpt, when in hand, must be amazing

Looks mental. I wonder if these heads will be popping up on ebay - they are probably gonna be rather pricey. There is a hint of David Beckham about it - still looks badass

The paint work on sosa's bale head is amazing!But their something off with his facial expression.The expression on Hot toys looks much more natural.

I think the whole face on the Sosa head has a sickly look to it. It has Bale likeness, but there's just something unappealing about it.

Bale was really skinny in the film so his facial structure is actually way to plump on the HT.

edit: The more I look at film stills I really just can't see much of Bale at all in the HT sculpt. I think it's as big a miss as the TDK Bale sculpts.

That's interesting and promising to hear.

While compared to the first one, it's definitely better and more apparent, I'm not sold that the texturing is anymore than some of HT's previous heads, be curious to see it in hand and see how much of a difference this new production material makes.

Hmmm, the Sosa head looks very real imo. just needs some work on the Goatee paint app.
