Imagine a dream world where we could have a thread that doesn't descend into the madness of TLJ and Rian Johnson. I can't actually recall the KOR even being in TLJ. Having heated debates about JJ and TFA I'd understand.

I believe this “discussion” is about the forthcoming movie where these guys seem to play a role. It’s a little hard to talk about the end of a trilogy without mentioning and comparing to the other two movies in the series.

Okay then if you wish.

Neither JJ or RJ are suitable candidates to make the last film imo. The Force Awakens didn't take enough risks, which I believe is what Disney was looking for, yet was still a very fun movie tbh. It set plenty of things up that could be expanded upon in the next movie, the KOR being one of them. However, probably because of the backlash of TFA being too similar to ANH, Episode VIII took too many risks, ignoring potential storylines set up in TFA and splitting the fan base down the middle. Don't get me wrong, I don't hate TLJ, I'm somewhere in the middle. It's my least favourite SW film, but it in no way ruined SW for me and certainly didn't ruin my childhood haha. There are things I enjoy about it, all the scenes on Ahch-to, Kylo and Rey's force connection, Snoke and Kylo's relationship, the scene with the Praetorians, Mark Hamill and Adam Driver's acting, the cinematography etc. Then there are things that leave me wanting to pull my hair out: the Marvel slapstick humour, shirtless Kylo, flying Leia, Rose, all of the Canto Bight scenes, the misuse of characters such as Finn and Poe etc. For me it's a half good and half crap film. I'd still give it 7/10 because of the parts I enjoy. The TLJ lovers tend to ignore any of the bad, and the haters tend to ignore any of the good, therefore it always ends in a ****storm.

Anyway, I realise I've just been a total hypocrite by going on a sequels rant after complaining of the that very thing :slap

Haha ;-) but you make good points and nice to hear from someone “in the middle” :)
I agree with what you see as the best parts of TLJ.

Well put and I agree with you 100%👍🏼

We've found middle ground on a Star Wars forum, what is this heresy? :hi5:

If only Obi-Wan and Anakin could've done the same, but Obi-Wan just had to have that higher ground, didn't he?!

Can't wait to get some better pics of this guy. Getting serious Old Republic vibes from him. Does anyone else think he'll end up being the fan favourite?

The knights I'm pretty sure will get their due attention. One of the knights got top billing on the cover of those Star Wars picture encyclopedia books for TROS. As for whether any particular knight besides Kylo holds any rank or status above others is really up in the air. Not to hate but I've learned by now that speculating will only leave you disappointed (looking at Captain Phasma in particular) - hope that's not the case.

As it looks to me like Rey and Kylo doesn’t need to be upgraded from TLJ versions I also think that two of these will do it for me.
I rewatched TFA last night... I know it’s a very unpopular opinion with some, but I really wish that RJ would have been chosen to do the last one too. Or maybe another bold director. I’m afraid that the saga will end with an orgy of fan pleasing. But I might be pleasantly surprised.

I'm with you on this. I think some carefully used fan service is fine and can be quite enjoyable. But at the end of the day, I like movies that are actually about something and have strong themes and ideas.

Just looking a bit closer at the Knights of Ren tonight.

How the ***k could you make a movie following TFA hinting at them and not include them in TLJ ?

I'd take any of them in 1/6. However I agree The Rogue, The Armoury and The Monk are my favs.

And yes, HT will only make 1-2 or so of them.

In a way I think it's a good thing Rian Johnson ignored them, otherwise they may have ended up getting the same treatment as the Praetorian Guards. They're JJ's baby, and he's talked passionately before about how he'd loved to have done a KOR spin-off film. I'll try and be positive here and say they'll have a massive role to play in TROS. From some of the stuff they've been saying over on Makingstarwars it would certainly seem that way. I may be in the minority here, but I hope the film clocks in at 3-4 hours and gives these guys a proper story.

As for figures, it seems The Rogue and The Monk are the two getting pushed forward in promo material, so touch wood.

What’s so wrong with an orgy of fan pleasing? Going by how half of the fan base reacted to TLJ, it’s what they wanted all along.

There is no “fan pleasing” . Try as you might , help them you could, but you would sacrifice all they fought for.

Star Wars fans are an agent of evil.....

Spot on again with your thoughts on Ruin Johnson. He would not have used them well. They may have looked pretty, but.....well we all know where this goes.

You're a brave man going on those sites and getting spoilers. I'm starting to shy away from info and spoilers from about now onwards.

incompetence?

Eeeehhh, maybe because they didn’t fit in the storyline? Where in the movie did you want them? And why? ...and why would they need to have a prominent role in more than one movie?
...sometimes the auto criticism is just hopeless [emoji2357]

Personally I would have replaced the Casino planet sequence with them. Have them turn up on Lukes island so Luke is forced to fight them to save Finn and what's her name. This could all have been in a bad ass parallel fight intercut with Rey+Kylo+Guards. (aka RotJ or Rogue One end sequences). Luke could have them still killed himself with the projection stuff if that really had to happen.

I don't know ?? I don't want to spend too much time writing a movie script argument that would work with the rest of the movie.

But it certainly would have given us a brief introduction to the KoR at a minimum. And maybe serve as a link to why they would show up now to finish off the fight with Kylo against the rebels in the final film ??

Well, yes, but that’s another movie. Let’s see if they get used in a satisfying way in the last one. Hope so [emoji3526]
I’m hoping for the Rogue and the Monk - like everyone else it seems [emoji6]
