1/6 Hot Toys Avengers: Endgame - Armored Thanos

The only thing I didn’t get was the old Cap thing. Everything else sort of made sense to me as I assumed the creation of alternate realities (Ancient One) / second timeline due to the actions of their time travel. The Cap thing essentially starts to unravel things, but before that everything works.

So, my understanding of it is... They created an alternate universe each time they changed something. Then, if they go back to the moment they changed something and put it back (the stones) they closed that alternate reality. This is what the movie says.

So Cap takes all the stones back. I'm assuming New York is fixed because Cap gets the scepter first and then the Tesseract debacle doesn't happen. 1/6 and Time Stone 2/6

Morag should be fairly straightforward. 3/6

Vormir is weird. They took the soul stone with a sacrifice. How does one put it back? Whatever. 4/6

Putting the Aether back into Jane? Also very strange but okay. 5/6

The tesseract in 1970. 6/6. BUT he obviously meets Peggy which should create a new reality because he changed something. So he shouldn't live out in the original universe but somehow he does. If collecting the stones is the only thing that creates a new reality, then there you go. He lives out in the original timeline and all realities are closed.

After seeing the movie I am still definitely keeping this on order, although I am now tempted to grab the IW because I liked his characterization in that movie better (whereas the EG version is simply the look I prefer).

I was originally thinking that Cap would simply return the stones to their timeline, but after they had taken them (as such the alternate realities and timelines would continue on). But if they were somehow able to close the loop and not create any alternates, that would essentially be like them never having got the stones in the first place? Imo they essentially need those prior debacles to lead to their current timeline and overall victory. I know what Baaner was saying to the Ancient One, but it wasn’t what she was saying would happen to her reality. It was only him telling her about Dr Strange’s actions that convinced her to help banner. Returning any of the stones to their respective positions without any changes to the timeline is far from straight forward. None of that would be needed, if not for Cap somehow returning to the original timeline. Heck him living in the past in the original timeline would in itself create issues, unless him living in two locations at the same time was alway meant to happen (with Peggy and frozen at the same time etc). The only thing I can think of is him jumping realities after his alternate Peggy passed away.

So isn't this figure and literally every other toy out there wrong? Doesn't he put the Gauntlet on his right hand at the end of the movie? Thanos' gauntlet is a lefty but the one the Avengers made is a righty.

yep, and I was never a stickler for entire accuracy but for things to be wildly inaccurate like this will kind of bug me. I suppose we could look at it as flashback Thanos from the Ultron after-credits scene where he puts on the gauntlet (minus all of the stones of course). "Fine, I'll do it myself"

I suppose we could look at it as flashback Thanos from the Ultron after-credits scene where he puts on the gauntlet (minus all of the stones of course). "Fine, I'll do it myself"

It's weird. I always wanted Armored Thanos over Tank Top Thanos but the movie definitely left a stronger impression of IW Thanos in my mind.

Having said that, I'm glad HT said screw it and gave this figure the full gauntlet. A lot of people will buy for the "definitive" version with a full gauntlet.

I'm going to stick with this order because I don't like the tank top look at all.

Those are my thoughts as well. This version could also work as an IW Thanos, being that he had the armor on at the beginning while inside Thor’s ship. It’d also work with AoU, from the “Fine...I’ll do it myself” end credit scene. Both of these reasons are also why I favor this version as I have the AoU Avengers group and the first GotG group, and he could still work posed with both of those groups while also somewhat still representing IW.

Granted he only had the power stone at the beginning of IW and no stones yet in AoU. But whatever.

But they specifically state that changing the past does NOT change the future that's already happened. It just creates an alternate branch. I don't know if they can entirely avoid creating branches... the very act of them BEING there should do that, whether they mess with anything or not. But they can try to prevent disastrous alternate branches that occur from the stones being unavailable.

So for instance, Banner wants to take the time stone from 2012. But if he does that, Strange won't have it to defeat Dormamu five years later. So they have to bring the time stone back to the exact point so that everything continues to happen as it's supposed to. They're not changing the past, they're changing their own future, while preventing that alternate devasatating branch from happening.

As far as Cap is concerned, he may return the Space Stone to 1970, but he does not stay there. Present Cap goes back to the 1950s (the cars we see at the end are from the 40s/50s) to live his life with Peggy. However, Past Cap is still actually in the ice at that point. So there would technically be two Steve Rogers'. Present Cap can live his life and grow old with Peggy, meanwhile Past Cap can still get defrosted in 2012, and go on to defend New York and team up with the Avengers if needed.

In fact, when we see Steve visit older Peggy in Winter Soldier, we find out she got married, had children, etc. We see the photos, but no photos of her husband. Perhaps her husband was other Steve Rogers' the whole time (she does show signs of dementia during their conversation).

Of course, that theory then starts to get a little weird when you consider Steve goes on to make out with Peggy's Grand Niece, if his future-self is actually Sharon's grand-uncle.

And you also have to sort out in which timeline Thanos no longer exists, because 2014 Thanos goes into the future and dies, which means he isn't there to reign terror from 2015-onward (no destruction of Xandar, no destruction of Knowhere, etc). So there's now a timeline where none of that stuff happened.

The timey wimey stuff gets pretty tangled, and often it's best just to wink and nod and roll with it.

Ok I'm glad it wasn't just me. I'm shocked this didn't have the "hidden accessory" note where they'd provide the alternate Stark Gauntlet. It just doesn't feel right, but maybe HT was misled too. I'm hoping they correct it in the coming weeks.

I am glad I pre-ordered this Endgame version of Thanos as opposed to his Infinity War figure (although that/he looks great) as having seen the movie....

I actually think this Thanos is even MORE of a bad-ass than he was in Infinity War. Yes: he ultimately lost...

BUT

1. He comes to within an INCH of victory despite lacking the knowledge of events that his time-travelling enemies do. AND he doesn't start off with the Power Stone like he does in Infinity War.
2. He adapts to the situation VERY quickly seeing as he manages to discern that time-travel is in effect, who is doing it and why and comes up with a counter-plan where he ALLOWS his enemies to gather the stones for him and then decides to INVADE THE FUTURE to accomplish his goals.
3. He manages to be even MORE brutal in combat, facing far more heroes in a more united front against him - yet he still easily dominates the battle until Steve gets Mjolnir and Scarlet Witch goes full Dark-Pheonix on him. Thanos actually becomes more and more dangerous in the battle as he became more desperate, having seen Endgame I retroactively feel like he held back a little in Infinity War, as if he was just THAT sure in his inevitable victory he never gave any confrontation his 100%.

For me this is Thanos at his most dangerous and therefore the definitive Thanos.

I think both figures are great, if i could I would have both, but the armor one just stands out a bit more to me. Great either way.

Yep totally with you here. Thanos was just so badass in Endgame. That's what matters most to me as far as figures on the shelf.

A few years down the track or when people look at him no one will care/know if it was left or right hand.

Wor-Gar is right. They definitely saved the best for last. Those fight scenes ! Awesome !
