I didn´t extend anything.
8 weeks and nothing, applied it directly, before it starts again and nothing so far.
All it needs is covering up.
There´s some form of reaction with the air, but I´m no specialist when it comes to chemical reactions.

Do you remember the name of who posted it?

Hope somebody could open up their ED-209 and take a photo of the sound chip and it's wires.

That may be.
All I can say is that I got teo ED209s and BOTH started to rot away.

Climate? Come on, all my Batmen, Hellboy and Dutch have no probs at all.

Hot Toys handled it the worst kind possible; they just pulled out defective figures. No communication with us at all... :/

But to be honest: given all my problems with that figure I don't really need it.
I just hope for Robo to be fine.

then why arent mine and others rotting at the same rate?
once we heard there was a rotting issue, I was 100% confident that mine was next and there was nothing i could do about it(except try to prolong it)
we have members here who did nothing to their ed, and its still good, we also have members who applied something and theirs are still good

the lack of rotting really makes me wonder if it could possible be a batch issue.i know thats something i hope is true but the inconsistency is puzzeling
maybe im not giving it enough time

I wish there was a way to put our finger on it but the inconsistency makes it impossible. Not just for ED but for all rubber figs that had issues. The reports are all over the place and there are no constants when it come to climate, display situation or treatment/non-treatment.

Like a-dev said, it's most likely inevitable, but the time table for the inevitable to happen is impossible to determine. Some people's ED's are falling apart in record time. Then there are people like me who have a fair share of rubber figs and don't have issues. Aside from my ED I have 5 different Xeno's, Leonidas, 2 TF Bats and a DX02 that I just sold a few weeks ago, and zero issues up until now with any of them (*makes sign of the cross*). Maybe their day is still coming because there's no way to dodge the bullet but some of those Aliens are 7 years old already and still going strong.

The one thing that I never heard mentioned as a possibility is the heating system of your house or where these are stored. Can that prolong or excel the rate of degradation? I have steam heat which of course caries a lot of moisture. Central heat is much, much drier and is pretty much the same as the heat in our cars.

im in houston texas, very hot and muggy. I keep my house thermostat at 68, my figs are in the front room which gets a little warmer, maybe 72 max
i would hope that the rubber would be able to withstand a 20 degree variance(70-90f), and thats probably a pretty extreme range of temps
I know Rorywans ed cracked, would be willing to bet his place is in the 70s and i think he got his from the same batch as mine(one of the first timcent orders)

maybe mine has cracked and I dont have the tools available to see them, idk

My old rubber figures are still holding up extremely well, no cracking, so I still have hope for my ED-209. Perhaps it's the climate that I'm in? I'm still getting the products just in case though since the rubber dome could be of different construction. So so far, it's mod podge and Honda silicone something?

I have to give mine another good inspection tonight but all looked ok when I reposed him less than 2 weeks ago.

Sorry if this has been asked and answered 1000 times but I won't get to play catch up here for a few days. Aside from the Honda stuff, what are the other options? Is one product a favorite or do all these lubricants do the job equally?

Figure bodies are for sure a different rubber to ED. I've got an Alien, Hellboy and Leonidas, and they're all still nice and soft. I reckon HT just cheaped out massively on the rubber on this.

Is there any kind of protectant that you can find easily at Walmart or an auto parts store that will work for the dome rotting issue? Any help is greatly appreciated..... Thank you in advance...
