Re: Deadpool Sequel - TBD

There's rumours that one of the reasons Miller left is because he wanted Kyle Chandler to be Cable and Reynolds and the writers disagreed.

If that's true then I'm glad he's gone.

Re: Deadpool Sequel - TBD

I hope we get something close to Nicieza's Cable and Deadpool run for the sequel. I really want them to cast an actual actor for Cable. Not just some big dude who can't act. I'm scared he's just gonna wind up taking the role of Colossus from the first one. I want messiah Cable.

So basically, he left because he wanted a more stylized film and Kyle Chandler as Cable, but Reynolds wants the raunchy humor from the first film and an older actor for the role of Cable.

The Wrap claims that it all boils down to Ryan Reynolds' renegotiated contract, which fetched the actor a hefty pay raise. He also got casting approval and several other creative controls. The movie is said to be without a release date at this time solely because of this.
The whole contract renegotiation is said to have taken longer than Tim Miller was comfortable with. And it suddenly shined a light on some hefty differences between the two parties. Miller, who owns his own VFX studio and did a Deadpool effects polish, was lobbying for a much more stylized sequel. Reynolds, on the other hand, was seriously pushing the raunchy comedy that landed the first movie its R rating.

But it was the casting of Cable that proved to be the last straw. Kyle Chandler of Friday Night Lights fame has long been rumored for the role. And Miller was lobbying for the Bloodline actor to win the part. Rayn Reynolds didn't want Chandler in the role, and the studio decided to back its leading man. Chandler is much younger than Cable is actually portrayed in the comics, and it's possible that Reynolds wanted to stick to that by casting an older actor.

So Kyle Chandler at 51 was too young for Reynolds' liking.

That's the best piece of info to come from all of this because it proves that Reynolds wants Cable done right. So many people on forums keep suggesting a younger Cable because "the studio wouldn't want a multiple film contract with a 60-year-old". Looks like this will finally put an end to those foolish notions.

I've always said to people, there's a reason Reynolds mentions Mel (61) & Dolph (60) during the stinger: they're grizzled veterans that look the part and they're both in their 60s.

I'll keep saying it, this 64-year-old is the best choice and after the success of Don't Breathe I think he's sitting at the top of Reynolds' short list.

Stephen Lang is Cable.

Re: Deadpool Sequel - TBD

I'd like to see Mel because he's a good actor and it would be the perfect mainstream film for him to make a comeback and it could also be an iconic character.

Dolph is not a good actor, imo.

And the Avatar guy? He's got the look, but Mel would bring more attention to the film.

Re: Deadpool Sequel - TBD

the SJW will lynch this movie if they pick Mel.

it would happen what happened to ghostbusters but in reverse lol

Re: Deadpool Sequel - TBD

Pfff, Gibson wouldn't want to star in such a film anyway.

Re: Deadpool Sequel - TBD

I think Mel would be great, just so Deadpool can break the fourth wall and make fun of all the **** he's pulled. :lol

Re: Deadpool Sequel - TBD

I wanna see Eric Dane as Cable. He already looks the part and if he seriously hit the gym for 6 months, he'd be huge.

that would probably hurt the movie because people would focus on that
