OK, I had a
lot of free time today...
So I thought to myself, I know! I'll compose a list of all the completely and quite possibly useless pieces of information I know about the DCD/DCC Arkham figure line and post them here for all to see!
Don't ask me why, don't ask me how, don't ask me who benefits!
Some of this may be surprising to you, most of it may be old news to you, and I'm fairly certain
all of it will be completey useless to you!
But hopefully it will be at least a
little interesting to read regardless
So here we are,
Facts about the DCD/DCC Arkham figure line! (spoiler tagged 'cos it's long!!)
- To date, the DCC Arkham figure line has the most number of Batman villains out of any other Batman figure line past and present.
- The total number of villains so far is 19 (*see below for list*)(this includes both Asylum & City waves)(includes announced but yet to be released figures) (does not include variants of a character such as 'sick Joker' or 'Titan Joker' or 'Nurse outfit Harley') (does not include the two nameless Clown Thugs) (does not include Catwoman)
- If you count Arkham Origins aswell, the total number of villains so far would be 21 (this adds Black Mask & Deathstroke to the list)
- The Batman figure line that previously held the record for most Batman villains was the Kenner Batman Animated Series figure line. The total of villains in that line was 17 (*see below for list*)(like the Arkham line, this number includes both BTAS & TNBA waves) (does not include variants of characters such as 'Pogo Stick Joker' or 'Rumble Ready Riddler') (does not include Catwoman)
- Both lines (Arkham and Animated) include characters that aren't cannon to Batman continuity (Phantasm for Animated, Hammer & Sickle for Arkham)
- The Batman animated line includes four common Batman villains that the Arkham line doesn't: Two Face, Ventriloquist & Scarface, Clayface & Man-Bat.
- The Arkham line includes five common Batman villains that the Animated line doesn't: Hugo Strange, Deadshot, Hush, Zsasz, Grundy.
- The Arkham line gives us the first ever Zsasz action figure.
- The Arkham line gives us the first ever 6-7 inch scale Talia figure.
- The Arkham line gives us the first ever nameless thug figures in a Batman line.
- The Arkham line gives us DCC's first ever deluxe action figures (Killer Croc & Mr Freeze)
- The Arkham Line marked the first time DC Direct had ever re-released a figure wave (Arkham Asylum wave 1 due to it's extreme popularity)
- DCC plan to re-release waves 1 & 2 of the Asylum line, but with the exception of the regular Batman, Zsasz & Bane.
- The Arkham line gives us DCC's first ever super articulated action figure (City wave 4 Batman)
- The Arkham line has had 3 convention exclusive action figures to date (Battle Damaged Batman, Sick Joker, Hugo Strange)
- Asylum wave 1 Harley Quinn was released with incorrectly coloured arm sleeves. DCC later re-released Wave 1 with this mistake corrected.
- Asylum wave 1 Joker was shown in painted prototype stage at conventions with hinged wrist joints. The final figure has swivel wrist joints instead.
- Asylum wave 1 Batman was shown in painted prototype stage at conventions with a flowing cape sculpt. The final figure has a non flowing cape sculpt.
- Asylum wave 1 Scarecrow was shown in painted prototype stage at conventions with no syringe needles on his glove. The final figure has the needles added.
- Asylum wave 1 harley Quinn was shown in painted prototype stage at conventions with one accessory (Cane). The final figure also included Joker's Titan gun.
- Asylum wave 2 Poison Ivy was shown in painted prototype stage at conventions with hinged knee joints. The final figure does not have those joints.
- Asylum wave 2 Bane has commonly sold for 10 - 15 times more than his original price.
- City wave 1 Harley Quinn figure was shown in painted prototype stage at conventions with no belt chain. The final figure has this included.
