I don't think paint should be a problem here.
Its not like Sideshow is showing up a proto with an amazing level of detail and smears of blood/gore/scratch or dirt or grime.

Even the proto is fairly simple.

I'm pretty sure it was in part meant to be a joke...even though SSC has occasionally dropped the ball they've also made some kick *** pieces. Make no mistake, to think SSC is flawless is just as ridiculous as saying all they do is mess up statues. Support the statues you like by purchasing them and don't worry about what anyone else has to say...especially before the statue is even released.
