I expect this thread to get buried quickly but I had to sing the praises of whoever decided to release Conan the Barbarian in its original cut.

Music issues from the Blu ray were fixed and gone was the dumb princess scenes at mount Doom at the end of the film and yes the idiotic Heart to Heart between Conan and Subotai before the battle of the mounds was removed.

Now this isn’t just the old cut. The ending still had the Mako voice over at the very end . I still prefer the original without that last narration by Mako but I’m not complaining. I also believe there was a slight change in ending at Mount Doom but I would have to look at my old DVD again

Anyways this was great to see on the big screen made even better by getting rid of all that stupid stuff from the Blu Ray “directors cut” Hope this means a 4k version is on the way.

That Blu Ray version was souring this film for me. I hated the princess stuff that much cause the score no longer fit what was on screen.

Anyways my 11 year old self was having a great time.

I caught this on the big screen in 2018 when Alamo released it and it sounds like it's the same cut that's in theaters now. I thought about catching it again but then I decided that being served beer while watching Conan just can't be topped, lol.

I never bought the blu-ray, just the DVD and after watching the additional scenes on YouTube I decided I didn't need the longer cut.

You don't like the wind smelling fresh before the storm, JAWS? I specifically sought out the UK Blu-Ray since the US version doesn't have that dialogue scene.

Are you sure… I thought it did.. took that out but added the princess scenes? I can’t remember. Just glad the original is back

Not just the subject matter but the locations and sets (both indoor and outdoor) make it more timeless than pretty much every fantasy movie before and since. Even the visuals of the mighty LOTR tell you exactly what era they were crafted in. And that's not even mentioning the epic score.

JAWS were you at all uncomfortable watching Conan getting it on with the witch on the big screen. I had to stifle a chuckle while watching it at the Alamo with so much flesh covering such a big screen and all the moaning, it was like watching a porno in a packed house, lol.

One of my top three of all time.

Exactly to everything in the first paragraph. I sat thinking about how it was all shot on screen, all the sets and extras, all the horse stunts and how a hero who is white beheaded a villainous person of color…. Nope never seeing that again in todays Modern Hollywood. Lol

Sex scenes didn’t faze me. The one with the witch is so over the top it is almost comical.

Such a great film. And yes that film score is 2nd to none
