Well we haven't heard from Biehn yet. I will try to temper my excitement for the time being. In fact most of my excitement revolves around his possible involvement - afterall, the Aliens themselves have been over-exposed and kinda ruined ever since '97.

He really pursued the role of Quaritch for Avatar but Cameron told him that both him and Sigourney together would be "too much of an ALIENS" reunion and would take people out of the movie. I've *got* to imagine that he'd jump at the chance to play his favorite character again. Though you are right, nothing's official until it's official.

Frankly they shouldn't bother at all then if that were the case. The original actors are the only reason I care.

Yea, If they can't get them back, scrap it. Beihn is the only "if" it would seem at this point. The studio is obviously interested, Neil is interested, Sigourney said she'd be on board.

Hmm, I just reread the original scoop. Neither Sigourney or Biehn confirmed, and the film will be set "after the events of the Prometheus sequel?" Are they flat out stating that Blomkamp is simply directing Prometheus 3 and not a sequel to ALIENS at all?

I sure as hell hope so. Because if we hadn't seen the Ripley/Hicks concept art that sounds like a straight up "Prometheus 3" announcement.

This is the weirdest news I have heard!!!!! I love it, don;t get me wrong....just feels like it's a dream to get a new film set after Aliens and retconning Alien 3 and Resurrection. I love Alien 3, but in order for them to do this, they have to say it was a dream. Fincher will probably be happy!

I'm not sure they even have to say anything. Just make an alternate sequel to Aliens, don't mention or make any reference to Alien 3 or Alien Resurrection - especially since some people actually like those films and won't be thrilled about them being wiped out.

Just make a new alternate sequel to Aliens and if its good, great. If people still like Alien 3, great. I personally am willing to accept 2 diverging universes as official canon and just pick and choose which I'm in the mood for.

Yep, they could just pull a Superman Returns and not reference 3 and 4 at all. If it's good sell Alien/ALIENS/ALIENS 2 as a blu-ray three-pack.

As a huge Alien 3 fan that alternate sequel sounds good to me. Would be interested to see the reaction if they chose to kill him off again though

Yeah, they could just disregard Alien 3 (even though I am actually a fan) and go all Star Trek and give us some alternative story.

In order to do that, you'd pretty much get mind control or time travel. It could even be said that they had been picked up during the transit of aliens to 3, and Ripley did her thing and her memory was wiped of the event. We could still get Newt and Bishop as well into the action.

Reminds me of all that its not a prequel, no alien, no pg13 crap Scott kept babling about for Prometheus.
Lies lies lies.
Scott is far from shooting Prometheus 2, hes probably not really into it.
So its will be years before Neil shoot his alien flick... Unless hé actually landed Prometheus 2 gig.

I'm a massive alien fan. But I really didn't like any of the Blomkamp concept work that was posted online, it seemed too fan boyish for my liking.
Would love to see a new alien movie though. And lets face it prometheus 2 is never happening.

Same thing for me. This is pure fanwank.
That xeno helmet is ridiculously lame.
The Only cool thing is that Neil Will probably hire his usual concept art team Aaron Beck, Greg Broadmore and Christian Pierce.
So im sure it Will look gorgeous, pure mech/gun porn bliss.
Now its clearly not enough as WE have seen with ELYSIUM.

Like Snyder (and Scott) Neil should be kept far away from the script.
But now that i hâve seen some Chappie clips, looks like hé should stay away from the camera too.
Seriously the Guy has no style, its boring at worst, generic at best.
He s got fun concept and is good at world building, choosing his production design team.

The alien universe is Fubar, between Prometheus and this....
I hope i Will be proved wrong.
