Re: AH! Lara Croft: Tomb Raider Premium Format

He already stated that earlier. Here ya go:

What a lame reason to cancel his order...:slap
How many people here actually played Tomb Raider!? My guess is only a handful. They purchase this piece because it depicts a very beautiful woman in very skimpy clothing. How can any male collector not feel "connected" to Lara Croft!?? :monkey4

Re: AH! Lara Croft: Tomb Raider Premium Format

I'll admit that I have never played a Tomb Raider game and not only did I PO the PF, but I also have the Snow Day statue. I know the story behind the character and that has made me a fan of her. Same goes for Resident Evil - never played a game, but know the story, like the characters and have picked up the HT Jills (my fav character) because of it. Playing the games isn't required to like a character, but I would say that gaining a connection to the character through some means is necessary.

The fact that she's a scantly clad hot chick is usually all the "connection" most male collectors need. For instance, do you think those Vampirella statues sell out like hot cakes because people are intrigued by her story?

I wouldn't know. I don't know anything about Vampirella nor do I own the statue. I also pass on most statues of scantily clad women because I didn't know anything about the background or stories of characters they represent.

On the opposite side of the coin, do you think women buy statues of guys just because they find them attractive or is it just us guys that do that?

Re: AH! Lara Croft: Tomb Raider Premium Format

Love of the character is normally what drives me in not just female purchases, but all purchases I make. It's just the way I approach it. Not for the re-sale value, not for the hotness of the piece, but for the look of the piece, the love I have for the character and it's place in my collection.

I think most people think this way but once in a while a statue comes along that just peeks ur interest...whether its just really badass or really sexy! I got the vampi comiquette even though i dont really follow her story...it's just a beautiful piece, plain and simple. i don't think there is anything wrong with that. that being said, I try not to buy just because its of a sexy female character. I had this on preorder but i cancelled because i already have snow day and I am satisfied with just having one tombraider piece.

I've played almost every single Tomb Raider game that has come out. Most of them are very fun, so I'm definitely a fan of the character. I'm guessing there would be no Uncharted, if Tomb Raider didn't exist.

One last note on this piece. Normally when there is specific art that a statue is based on, I usually like the art a little better than the statue, however, not in this case. Tim sculpted her 50x more awesome than AH!s artwork, IMO :wink1:

there was also a comic series too

Re: AH! Lara Croft: Tomb Raider Premium Format

The primary reason that convinced me to get this statue is because, as a gamer, I recognized the crucial role that Lara had played in shaping the industry into the way it is today. Which leads to another equally important reason: Sure, the gameplay was revolutionary when TR was introduced but it was also her appearance that brought more attention (some of which was negative) to gaming. Lastly, the upcoming TR reboot has piqued my interest once again.

Buying this statue isn't just for fantasies but also - I think - to pay homage to one of the oldest and more prominent faces of gaming lore (even today).

Re: AH! Lara Croft: Tomb Raider Premium Format

i just like the pose/sculpt more than anything else, it looks awesome with weapon out. And lara is one of the oldest game characters i grew up with playing video games.

I really dont care THAT MUCH about hot chicks & sexy outfit in statues, it's about the paint/sculpt quality & character I am familiar with. Otherwise there are literally thousands of sexier girl figure/statues some borderline on porn from yamato/koto etc.. that you can buy, but have little interest in them.

Now when it comes to real women...that's a different story, it's all about the hotness & sexy outfits :wink1:

Boy, I can't wait for them to release a Pac-Man PF.

Re: AH! Lara Croft: Tomb Raider Premium Format

Put in a WL order for the EX of this. I have always enjoyed Tomb Raider games, and I have been looking to get some Video Game statues to vary my collection a bit (This, Isaac Clarke, Kratos, Etc.)
