Remember the thread about how a 3d camera would give accurate heads? This is even better.

HP is coming out with a 3d printer that'll be able to make quick prototypes on the fly, it turns drawings into 3d stuff (CAD I believe).

During our discussion of emerging technologies I mentioned 3D printing. Well, here is one of the first “mainstream” models - it’s by HP and is called the Designjet 3D. It’s about $17,000, but that price will drop over time.

One major use cited in the article was rapid prototyping. Consider how the ability to create 3D models may shorten the development process (prototyping is basically the same process, whether or not we’re talking about information systems projects).

If I ever win the lotto or I have an unknown rich relative that dies and for some wierd reason decides to leave me everything they have I'll definately buy this.

People abuse copy machines by photocopying their ass, I can't imagine the misuse that will ensue from this.

Hmm, if this could make the classic he-man figure's, then we have ourselves a winner here.. Apparently this does not only do the mold, but paints the thing as well.. amazing.

There are 3d printers you can get for around $10k already. These aren't intended for middle class people, they're intended for people who will use them for business. Over time they'll get cheap enough for regular folks to buy them, but I imagine that's a good 5-8 years away.
