Two figures in intricate space suits, plus the Cooper head and clothing set for $333 shipped is too good to be true. With this company's track record, or lack thereof, this is not worth the risk.

Will you double-dip or just stick with the ThreeStep Cooper?

I was tempted to PO but it was more than I wanted to pay (almost JND/InArt prices), knowing there would be a cheaper alternative. The ThreeStep headsculpt does look much better.
Yeah, I placed my order for the deluxe pack with Kit earlier. I really wanted a Mann figure and was planning on customizing my own using a cheaper Cooper body and the extra sculpt from The Martian figure. Now with this coming out, I was thinking about just getting Mann only but with the Cooper civilian look, I had to get the deluxe pack.

Interstellar is one of my favorite movies, so anything releasing for this I will probably try and pick up. I may try and make this Cooper figure "battle damaged" now with a dirty suit and cracked face shield. Next to some of the InArt pieces coming out, the ThreeStep figure is one of my most anticipated figures to receive.

Ugh, Eternal Toys! I wasn't impressed with their Devito Penguin. I'll wait for it to release before I consider buying it.
See, where I was. Yes not spot on and the ‘plugs’ are there and coat too short. But with some messing it looks really good in hand - imo of course.

I’m happy to take a gamble with this pack, absolutely love the film.

If the helmets are not removable I am not too bothered - I could either display the headsculpt from the pack next to the figure and potentially use my Martian Watney sculpt with that too as my Watney is fully-geared up. Great figure that.

But as much as I like space-suited characters stood there minus helmet, these designs are so strong and iconic that I am happy to have them as is all suited and booted.

Not perfect, but I love my Penguin from Eternal so I am generally quite happy and excited about this release. I also have the Premier Brand on preorder so my excitement level is through the roof - if you couldn’t tell.

I have no issue mixing different brands (pun intended) as my collection consists of, licensed and third party and within individual properties too.

I’m curious now to see if anyone makes a TARS - that would probably top the line/display. Hopefully with light-up, and sarcasm feature 😄

This is a hard set to beat honestly.

With the PT Brand you basically can complete your Interstellar display for less than the 3 Steps figure.

I want to see if the other PT responds with a product soon, but I will very likely PO this.

Everyone who planned to order the Eternal Toys Cooper may want to hold up and wait out the drama

The story is they stole Three Steps’ data to develop Matt Damon and promised not to release Cooper then they eat their words.

The factory they use promised Three Steps they wont help Eternal toys produce their Cooper, and if eternal toys take the prototype to produce it anywhere else, the factory will cease any collaboration with eternal toys including all their other products. So there is a chance Eternal will only release Matt Damon

Oh no. 2 "companies" that are making unlicensed figures are stealing from eachother. 😢

I don't feel bad for anyone involved. If 3steps Cooper wasn't $600+ and came with a head sculpt that looks like it was made in 2011 then maybe I would have wanted that one... So either this set gets made, and I recieve it eventually, or it doesn't and I get my deposit back from kit, NBD.

Regardless I won't be spending money on anything from 3step until they find a way to make their stuff more reasonably priced. Sure their process might be the reason it's more expensive, but it's far from worth it to me. The real deal breaker is the sculpt still looks like a wax caricature of Matthew.

It reminds me of that Kyle Reese figure someone was making for $1000... The outfit looked perfect but the sculpt looked like it was made by Hasbro.
I'd rather the clothing have less detail instead of the sculpt looking terrible. It's the most important part of the figure for me, and to phone that in is dumb.

Yeah, it’s kind of a gray area to me. Like I get it that different sculptors or makers of various parts are putting in the work and it’s not cool of others to steal that work.

At the same time though these third party companies are technically stealing IP. We all accept it because these characters are owned by large corporations and these companies fulfill our wants but still it’s not exactly right.

Exactly. The point of me collecting these figures is because i'm a fan of cinema and I like to show my respect, support and adoration for the IP's I love in this highly satisfying way.
I'd much rather Hot Toys/Blitzway/Threezero etc. make licenced 1/6th figures from Interstellar, but they aren't and likely never will. And since most movies don't get figures made of them, my only options are to patronize unlicensed companies. I have nothing against them for making unlicensed figures because i'm usually glad someone cares enough about the characters to make them, but the only support they'll get from me is the $ I pay for their wares. I'm no saint, so I can't really judge someone's morality If I have something to gain from it, but I can't find it in me to pity thieves stealing from thieves.

That being said. I don't wish any of them ill will either, and I hope it get's resolved in a way that allows the set to still be made with nobody being screwed over.

Exactly. Without knowing the full details, why this factory is being all morale with the one third-party over the other is beyond me - stealing aside from the other when technically 3step are stealing…

However your see it, they are all still making money off of someone else’s IP.

The factory would make more from both parties, if one of them gets funny about it then they either like it or lump it and carry on with the factory, or they look elsewhere.

In this game you can’t be too choosy or even morale when going down this route.

3step are just as bad as the rest, yes they may be making this gorgeous figure out of love for the property, but they don’t hold a license or the IP rights, but are still more then happy to go ahead and rip the IP holders off.

It’s ridiculous quite frankly. Nothing fair about them crying to the factory about it.

Aside from the IP holders - who obviously don’t see the cost and merit in doing this stuff, everyones a winner to a degree.

Look the other way and everyones happy I guess.
